    Re: Land Cruiser 300 - 3.3L V6 diesel

It's probably a derivate of their Lexus V35A engine with twin turbos. That engine has been in the LS500 for 4 years now.

    Re: Firestone Destination No more!

The GY Wrangler Adventure AT are pretty close in all aspects to the FS Destination, I think even in price.
  3. Re: Need advice on rebuilding FJ62 transfer box and propshafts

Nope, I live at the west coast, Namibia.
  4. Re: Need advice on rebuilding FJ62 transfer box and propshafts

I would try and look for a prop shaft workshop and a gearbox workshop. Toyota would quite likely outsource the work anyway.
Get a quote from such specialist workshops and compare.
  5. Re: Costs of owning a Toyota Landcruiser 105 4.5EFI

Oh, sorry. I then misunderstood. I thought you said the OP's post is a true representation of owning an old, large high mileage 4x4.
  6. Re: Costs of owning a Toyota Landcruiser 105 4.5EFI

A basic annual service on my 38 year old FJ60 Landcruiser costs me around 6k at a decent workshop, not close to 15.

The 105 is not a technology wonder compared to the 60, hence why would the...

Re: Is bigger BETTER? Camping fridge!!!!

If you go with one of the common brands like Engel, Snowmaster or National Luna, 1 large fridge would always consume less power than 2 smaller ones. Seeing that space is not an issue, size up if in...

    Re: Hilux GD6 Suspension !!!

Find the right tyre pressure for the tyres. If the vehicle rides on something like Cooper ST Maxx or BFGs or other LT tyres with 3 ply sidewall, they will make the ride noticeably stiffer on a bakkie...
  10. Re: Crossing the Namib From Kanaan to Meob bay to Walvis bay

Good choice, I like the Old Man Emu suspension. Just make sure you choose the constant load rating. Often those who complain later that the ride feels worse than with the original suspension have...
  11. Re: Crossing the Namib From Kanaan to Meob bay to Walvis bay

The western side of the Namib dunes often get moisture from fog coming in and at least during September to April get mostly westerly winds.
I could imagine that the Kalahari dunes are different,...

    Re: Garmin Drive 52MT-S

  15. Re: Crossing the Namib From Kanaan to Meob bay to Walvis bay

Are you sure the FJ is supposed to shift into 5th in LR?
I'm asking because mine doesn't do it either. I bought it 2nd hand, so I don't know whether it did when new. I thought it logical, that the...

Re: Mahindra Pik-Up / An owner's honest review

Seeing that Stop-Start systems have been around for more than 40 years it's safe to say that companies like VW, Fiat and Toyota, who pioneered these systems, would have done some research.

Re: How much did you pay for Tyres today ?

Look for Roadcruza RA1100. An AT tyre with a tread pattern similar to that of the BFG.
Much softer rubber compound and 2ply sidewall, therefore a very comfortable ride.
Got them on my FJ and am...

Re: 2020 Ford XLT or New 250 Isuzu X Rider

That would make me walk far away from that Ford.
Look for another one, there should be plenty available on the market.

Personally I would go with Isuzu rather than Ford.
