Re: Solar System for Home ( yet another :)

I think everyone has its own reasons for doing the solar thing. Some people want to save electricity costs, some people don't want to be effected by loadshedding etc etc.

    My system started out for...

    Re: Lithium battery usage

We have had as much if not longer spells without power due to network faults or sub trips than loadshedding, so make that 40 days a year. One of them ran for 4 days continuous.

    We just got tired...

    Re: Grid-tied or off-grid. Please consider ...

No, just as I would not switch my petrol gennie back to the grid, so my Axperts do not swith to the grid. The mains grid input to my Axperts are empty.

There is no way my solar connects back to...

    Re: Grid-tied or off-grid. Please consider ...

Nope, the switch actually makes them illegal.

The problem NRS and SANS are dealing with, in very very basic terms, are solar panels connected to the grid via a DB using a inverter.

    Re: Grid-tied or off-grid. Please consider ...

What I have done is basically what you have, except I'm running two Axpert in parallel.

To get grid backup without grid tied equipment I fitted a changeover switch. That should take care of the...

One string (1.5kW) sit at 30 deg, the other 1.5kW at 35 deg. Third string 2kW follows tile roof pitch, looks likeapproximately 30 deg.

Location Pretoria, facing slightly east of North.

  21. Re: Axpert inverter output priority/ battery charge issue

If you use more energy than the battery can supply it will trip?

Maybe in winter you use more electricity than is available from battery.

The only thing I can find for Tshwane is a bidirectional [email protected] and selling back at 10c/unit. Nothing about approved inverters, and currently nothing yet enforced, so everybody just grid tie.

    Re: Pylontech battery at 0'C.

Some of the better Bms units detect both low and high temperature, not sure if the Pylontech use such.

I doubt if my garage in Pta will ever get below 1 degree C
