Re: Eskom buying batteries worth R14 billion

Fluctuations in demand is their biggest challange. Decent storage capacity during off peaks will help them cope with the peaks.

    Re: Wind energy

My personal opinion (after much thought and minimum research) is that it will be a good backup system for off-grid solar applications along the Cape coast. But, it is expensive (apparently) to buy...

    Re: Wind energy

Surely PE is awash with wind turbines :-)
Last time I looked, it seemed that wind turbine cost is about 4x that of solar panel per kWh.
My (hopefully) future installation on the West Coast will...

    Re: Why We Drive Nissan

My Datsun 1600 SSS was an unbreakable, giant killing student car.
My Sani was one of the first 3.0V6 5-door versions to arrive on the shop floor. It was streaks ahead of anything out there and...

Ford & Mazda Re: Trailblazer cooling

If I accept my measured parameters quoted, then the opening up of the dummy grill on my Chevy had a huge impact. We did a day-trip to Kruger today. The return trip from Malelane to Barberton was in...
  12. Poll: Re: Diesel v Petrol , Yip another one. but wait, hear me out.

There is only one thing that makes a car go forward, and that is kW. Torque is only one of the variables in the kW formula (kW = Nm x rpm x konstant).
The interesting aspect of your post is that the...

    Re: Changing tire size

    Only 0.5% smaller. Not noticeable.
Less width, rubber on the road and weight is likely to give you better fuel consumption.
Not sure what the tyres will look like on the rims, or on the car.
  15. Re: Advise / information is the 4x4 drive chain on my TB not working

It's difficult to judge without having seen it.
    1) it doesn't seem right. My Blazer is happy to handle axle twisters like you explain.
    2) I assume your 2016 Z71 is a facelift model, like mine. I...

Re: Ford Everest 2.0 Bi-Turbo Issues

    I don't agree.
My wife hates the collision warning. I have mine set at maximum distance and it does, every now and then, shout at me. She wants me to turn it off, because she catches a fright when...

Re: Is there a Chinese vehicle in your future?

Did the Chinese break the deal they had with that country? Often those countries are so corrupt and un-investable, that no listed company want to get involved. That is where the Chinese can step in....

Re: Is there a Chinese vehicle in your future?

My wife drives an American platkar. It is manufactured in China. The major electrical and electronic components are Bosch with "Made in China" nameplates on.

  31. Re: Automatic gearboxes and towing heavy loads

  33. Re: Buying a 2014 Chevy TrailBlazer in 2021? YAY or NAY?

    Yip.
Something wrong! Life isn't that fair. You can't have a nice engine and low fuel consumption.
