Re: What’s the secret to 3.2 auto longevity?

That box is speced for that motor. And that power. Once you give it the beans, it breaks.

In Aus they have extended the life of the gbox with some Uniglide. But that box is not up to hammering.

    Re: Starting problems.

Once a diesel gets older, the pipes are also not all that airtight. So it can take in some air overnight.

I don't bother chasing my tail with this kind of thing.

Just add a little electric low...

Re: Timing chain replacement( streched )

Yes. There is no real bush in there. That's why they try and stretch the life of bike chains with o-ring seals etc.

But, the modern chains just don't last like we are led to believe. I have seen...

Re: Timing chain replacement( streched )

I just need to clarify something. It is actually not a "stretched" chain. Yes it is longer, but it is due to the pins wearing. When you take the chain out, you can clearly see the sideways...

Re: High mileage prado. To buy or not

If you do go for the 1KZTE engine, the option is always there to replace with a 1KDFTV(3.0D4D) with a mechanical pump.

    Re: Toyota engine for overlanding.

Bear in mind, that engine also runs in the HDJ80 as well as the HDJ100. So it is not a foreign engine here. It is now gaining huge respect. They motors are getting very expensive.

    As a last note,...

    Re: 1HDFTE Troopie (LC78)

    No no no no.

This car will one day be my coffin and hopefully that will be in about 30yrs time.

Re: 1984 SFA D4D and gearbox conversion

Yes it can be done, but is tricky.

But we have been playing with a 1KDFTV for about 1yr now, with a mech pump and reconfigured injectors. Real close to the final design.

    We are expecting to...
  18. Re: Timing chain change interval for 2014 pikup?

    Re: Uniglide and the future

    Just a little testimonial.

    Thought I would share this.
This bearing ran dry. Then ran hot. Spat out the seal and seized. Then broke the belt.
I sprayed it with some FRC and wiggled it by hand....

    Re: Uniglide and the future

It is the same treatment. Only diff is that we are bit hesitant of the CVT. That thing has metal cones that the belts lock onto. The FRC adsorbs onto the metal. And it will hinder the binding of the...

Sticky: Re: WANTED thread for Land Rover parts & accessories:

These blowers can usually be "fixed". The bushes seize up. As long as the wires aren't burnt, Uniglide will get it going again abd keep it going.
