    Re: Is this it?

I think this clip was spot on. Forget about LR or any other brands, what he described is absolutely accurate.

And it makes sense. I know he's not the most popular guy but I'll give him this one.

  4. Re: Defender Light Circuit - where to start looking for Earth Fault

I think they call it a ROW (rest of world) spec loom.

Check out Defeder2 forum, a few guys replaced their looms there.
  5. Re: Static Electricity Risk from Plastic Fuel Cans

Jip, many vehicles with plastic tanks even my Defender.

Just earth it. If it can be bolted, bolt it onto steel.
If not use steel cable that's earthed to a steel structure.

Re: Social Isolation - time to fix!

    Interesting, Kalahari's are 2006 model, 5 door 110, with Td5 dash.

    Is yours the same?

Re: defender 300tdi flat spot or miss

    Bummer.

Do you have another 300Tdi close by, after lockdown, as a reference.

See how big the difference is.

    Re: Midas Full Synthetic Oil

All engines get water in the air filled cavities.

The designers try hard to stop it but it still happens.
I would think it comes in through breathers when a hot engine cools down and usually...

Defender Re: 2001 Land Rover Defender

I use a bottle jack to put enough pressure on the bottom plate to remove the circlip.
Be careful not to use too much as it might damage the steering box.

And made a puller to remove the ball...

Defender Re: 2001 Land Rover Defender

Not to be a party pooper, but that thing doesn't come off easily.

You only have to replace the insides of the ball joint, if it's that type.
That is a 10 minute job.

    I once had a 30 ton press...

Okay I did a few conversions and it's small difference.

Defender Re: 300 tdi oil pressure

If the head is in spec IAW the manual, use it.
But if cracking at valves refer to manual to discard.
If warped out of limits, replace.

Many skim the head but it's not wise. From the 300Tdi...

What viscosity oil are you using?

My Kalahari came out with the last Td5s and the recommended oil, in my owners manual, was 5w30.

I ignored it as I knew we have hotter weather than Europe.

    I...

    Re: defender 300tdi gets hot

Mine tended to run warmer at over 100km/h and long hills, although I tend to stay at 90-100km/h.

I had a slight leak on the "P" gasket as well as the water pump.
    After fixing this it was...

I can give you manuals for older Defenders including the 200Tdi but unfortunately not for Discovery.

If it's only the engine part you're looking for this might help.
