    I have done it, just pulled the connector plug from the EGR system, so it can't function.

    Hilux Raider is referring to power steering fluid
    Racer X you are referring to a auto box, automatic transition.

    I wouldn't say so, it is working the whole time, doesn't matter if there is one or two batteries connected, it's running.

    But I'm by no measure an auto electrician, just a guess.

    Probably when they removed the filter some oil ran out, my guess is that is a small catch pan to catch the spilled oil from the filter when removing it so it doesn't run all over the engine.
