Re: Help need to immobilise series 3

In the UK they push it onto a rollerback and drive away.

You need to make it so that they can't push it out of the garage.

Removing the wheels isn't such a bad idea.

Re: One Ten V8 Starting Problem

100% correct. Mine did the same. I owned her for 12/13 years.

It's all about the heat. In the old manuals LR shows a vapour trap on the firewall in the engine compartment.

I did want to build a...

Re: Roofrack mounts for 110 Defender

The legs from the Frontrunner rack is 75mm wide with 2 holes on the centre line.

So you will have to drill new holes, if it's wide enough.

    Re: Td5 Warped Exhaust Manifold

That technique really works, one of my colleagues uses it to remove broken off studs from outboard motors.

Takes some time and you will probably do it more than once per bolt.
    But it works.

Re: Excessive front drivetrain play 300tdi

Loosen the bolts on the drive members and feel the amount of play between the side shaft and drive members.
You'll be surprised how much play can be eliminated there.

Re: TD5 starting problem - Stumped

The return line sucks air during the night, draining all the diesel.

But I'm not sure how the Td5 fuel system works.
It's got an electric pump, so that should eliminate air.

    Someone more...

Re: TD5 starting problem - Stumped

On 300Tdi it will be the spill return that's leaking.

Does a Td5 have something like that?

    Re: Defender 130 Overlander build

My option, if I remember correctly it's called sawtooth, will have the required rating because of military use.

Those are the only alloy wheels I've ever liked on a Defender.

Mine had a freeflow setup as standard.

I now only have the rear box.(Still LR original) It's very small.

    I didn't notice a big difference in...

Jy sal al die inligting kan kry deur die serial nommer te Google.

Diff behoort die maklikste te wees.

Txbox op Defender behoort 1.14:1 te wees.

    Kyk hier dalk help dit.

    Defender Re: Strange steering behaviour

    No. I understand.
I replaced the box because of a collapsed bearing.

I would just have expected the pump to give me an indication, audible maybe, of failure.

    Re: Snorkel or not?

If you just fitted that as is, it's a raised air intake.

A snorkel, if sold as a snorkel, is a fully sealed system that allows air to enter the engine without a chance of water entering.

    Re: Coolant replacement - help

Most engines have a threaded plug on the side of the engine block, this will enable you to drain it completely.
As the bottom hose is higher than the lowest cooling passage.

    But I don't use it....

    Re: Defender 130 Overlander build

    Take a deep breath....

Right, you don't need to weld anything.

    Make your measurements.
Decide what you want to change.
    Get aluminium sheet
    Aluminium angle extrusions
    Rivits
    Maybe plywood.
