    Re: Show your Two Way radio and Arial setups

    Well answered, Nico! I can just add that private Commercial User licences are limited to a 50km radius around the Licencees address, except for the roving VHF channels as used by ORRA and this forum,...
  3. Re: Toyota LC 200 batteries deader than dead?

    The 3.8A maintenance free charger will work but you should rather consider a heavier-duty charger as you have two batteries. I use Benton a BX-2 on each of my vehicles, keeps the batteries fully...

    Re: Show your Two Way radio and Arial setups

    We use these antennas in heavy industrial open-cast Mining equipment, they do not simply break. In fact, you would be hard pressed to actually destroy one through normal use.

    Re: Show your Two Way radio and Arial setups

    I think you meant to say the Aussie ones are UHF, so yes, they are much shorter than the VHF ones. The length of the whip is dependent upon the operating frequency of the radio. For VHF purposes, you...

    As I asked in the AV forum... how on earth does one cut a round, flat leather washer on a wood lathe? You need to make a YouTube video of it for stupid folk like me to understand...

    Re: Space Station Sightings for June 2020

    Nice one! I remember when we used to watch Sputniks and whatever in the night sky, could see them quite easily those days. Perhaps they orbited at a lower altitude back then.

    Only to charge it, you should not leave it permanently connected. This is what the maintenance Battery Chargers are designed to do.

    Re: Antique piano restoration

    Let's see now... you're restoring:

    * A Colchester Lathe
    * 100-year old Baby Grand Piano
    * A Quad 33 Pre
    * A Quad 303 Amp
    * A Pajero

    ...and you're building a water-reticulation system.

  26. Sticky: Re: Benton BX-1(M), BX-2, BX-4, BX-5 Multi-Stage Automatic Battery Chargers

    At 11.5v battery voltage, it should commence a charge. Without any battery, there will not be any DC reading from the charger, as you rightly mention.

    Check the quick-release connector if there is...
  27. Sticky: Re: Benton BX-1(M), BX-2, BX-4, BX-5 Multi-Stage Automatic Battery Chargers

    Try another battery, to see whether the charger or battery is at fault.

    I suspect the battery is either totally flat or very near to it, the BX-1 needs to "see" some voltage present at its...

    Indeed, we ordered a mixed batch of them from 1 or 2A up to 30A. None of them blew when we connected them to a 12v 30A power supply, not even the 1A fuse although we connected it as a dead short.
