Knowing Toyota the 2.8 motor will still be under stressed even if pushing 150 KW.

    Re: 150kw Hilux

Certainly new news for me when I saw it this morning, finally they do a bit more than just the typical face lift on the Hilux and Fortuner. You got to wonder at what price though, since they usually...

    Re: Mysterious elephant deaths

Tony won't many other animals in the area then also die? Or do you think other smaller animals dying are simply not noticed because scavengers are able to sort them out quicker than they can...

Unfortunate as it is, I don't expect any less of them, they won't do it for free after all.

    Re: Solar decisions

Can the CTEK you use take 300W input?
You can even go for 2x 140W or 150W panels, which ever will fit the best on the Bundutop.

In my opinion opting for lead acid in the place of lithium just to add a good battery monitor, will be like taking 20 steps backwards. The info provided by the Blue Nova on board bluetooth will be...

My approach is also to permanently mount panels and compensate by upping the size a bit. My thinking is no matter where you camp, a large part of your rig will be in the sun for a large part of the...

    Re: Tesla 1million mile battery..

Sad thing is, if I remember correctly, they are willing to heavily invest not only with the cars, but also the charging network around the country if only government wants to play ball.

Re: 220v AC or 12v DC?

You are comparing apples to stones. You can't compare amp draw between AC and DC if the one is 12V and the other 230V.

Re: 220v AC or 12v DC?

    Actually.....

If I take a Danfoss BD35F compressor as an example.
Running off 12V the compressor draws roughly around 3.5amps. Running from 220V, it draws around 1.6 amps.

Re: 220v AC or 12v DC?

Agree with all posts, stick to 12V.

  26. Re: Question to those using inverter for warm blanket.

Have you looked in to 12V electric blankets?
In general I'm not a big fan of inverters for camping setups since they can be very power hungry, but a mans got to do what a mans got to do. What...

    Re: 500w inverter question

Just keep in mind it also still draws a little current even with no load, so if it can't be completely switched off, I'd still add a extra switch.

    Re: 500w inverter question

If you decide to keep it, I'd put in a extra switch between the inverter and battery to totally switch it off, just be sure to get one rated for the correct current.
If I may ask, what did this...

    Solar geyser backup element usage.
