Re: tdv6 vs v8 maintenance cost

V8 has chain, no belt. So nothing there either. Also no tensioner issues. if you are referring to the D3 only.

    Re: D4 V8 Engine oil

Also, to note on this, the V8 tensioner issue was issued as a TSB and could have been fixed by owners (under warranty) who pay attention to this kind of thing.

We are all still eagerly awaiting...

Yes, Viper is also highly recommended. They did some work for me a few years ago on my Mk6 Gti. Very happy with it.
  4. Re: Kruger South - Skukuza and Croc Bridge (mid July)

Just called Phabeni now as Numbi line is dead.

Phabeni is open and so is Numbi. So might go in either or. Depends on the time as we want to try find a specific farm in Hazyview on the way through.
  5. Re: Kruger South - Skukuza and Croc Bridge (mid July)

Thanks Peter, except everywhere is fully booked!!! You'd think it would be quieter... anyways, will take what we can get.

Plan on going in through Numbi gate on the Friday afternoon... then...

    Re: D4 V8 de-cat

Decat and get a mini-at or cat fooler and you will hear a little bit more of a growl with a slightly marginal fuel consumption figure which is negated by the said 'grow'.

    Fit a better silencer box...

    Re: D4 V8 Engine oil

Suggest you do the cam chain tensioners sooner rather than later to save on extra damage associated with bent valves, etc.

Cost me R70k all in at a LR dealer with new waterpump, thermostat housing...

Re: Does my Discovery 4 upgrade plan make sense?

I think upgrading a D4 is a lot of money just for Bluetooth ;D (well, mainly). Resale plummets at the same value.. so if you are going to upgrade, then i'd wait, but then you might not get what you...

    Re: Calling D4 owners

There have been no reports of the D4 XS snapping cranks. This has been attributed to a detuned engine vs the S, SE, HSE spec.

TDV6 is the older tech, SDV6 is the newer. Same engine in principle. ...

Discovery 3 Re: Disco 3 18" tyre sizes

265/65/18 (BFG and Cooper) touches the chassis member on full lock outwards on a Disco 4 even with a 1 inch lift and 30mm spacers.

    265/60/18 XMT's don't touch.

Actually, they are the best, from a reliability stand point. These are the 2 years where there are ZERO crank issues because it is before the cranks were manufactured elsewhere.

  33. RangeRover Re: Disco 4 - Is it worth the headache to look at buying one

To be brutally honest, if you going to do baboons, i would spend the extra money and get the 2" lift just on tyres. Then get the necessary (IID (better cos of diagnostics also) or LLAMS controller)...
