Re: 6mm or 10mm for solar extension lead

At 8m you can easily get away with 2.5mm with 110W panels.
However for future proofing I would suggest to make up a 20m cable of 4mm.

4mm at 20m has about the same resistance as a 2.5mm at...

    Re: What Garmin to chose?

I've found the Tablet and Phone navigational apps to be lacking in accuracy and features once you leave civilisation and go proper bundu bashing.

Re: My LC 79 v8 Journey

With the torque of that V8D beast and the stock gearing they're really well suited to 35s. Great choice!

One of the few great looking 79s in RSA IMO. Nothing over the top

Re: SUV or Double cab with canopy?

    Complete opposite vehicles.

Biggest differences as mentioned are rear leg room, carrying capacity, storage space, comfort and manoeuvrability

    Re: RTTs and weight

Anton I've been considering this exact setup on my 130 just as these vehicles quickly get overloaded due to the available bin space.
Luckily I've got some height to play with due to the Defenders...
  6. Re: 10 Reasons Why you should NOT build a Heavy 4WD Tourer

Very good point and a catch 22 all depending on the types of terrain and driving you'll be doing.

I've fallen victim to this on the Defender. You get addicted to the big wheel grip and traction...
  7. Re: Romer cooler build quality - Does your Romer look like this?

Glad you got sorted. Can't say I'm that happy with mine in terms of the build quality.

After our 1st camping trip with the 60L Romer it still has dents on the front panel. Given the packing space...

    Re: Tyres losing pressure

    From previous experience.

    - Poor Quality Rims or seating of the tyre bead
    - Sand between the tyre bead and rim

The fact that all 4 loses the same amount of air is a bit strange.
    Are you...

    Re: Treg Owners

Took my V6TDI Treg in for a service at Rola VW Malmesbury.
Their pricing structure seems to be exactly half of that of the local dealerships in and around CPT.
Excellent service and got a little...

    Re: Mercedes W123 300D

    Absolutely loved my 300D!
Should have never sold it but one only has so much garage parking space. Would've killed me to park the old lady outside in the rain.
Could easily maintain 120kmh on the...

    Your Zook did quite well!

I've also heard some say the G&C dyno being too happy but then again the dyno pretty much matches a lot of the factory spec power figures of the vehicles being tested...

Re: Tyre Size vs Dyno Power - Tested

    +1

The previous owner swapped in a Cruiser gearbox and TC with the 3UZ engine.
However looking at my current torque figures I guess that was a bit overkill;D

Re: Another Jimny Dual Battery Thread

Your approach to eliminating the battery from the engine compartment is wise.
Also note the CTEK's max operating temperature is 50C which will be exceeded in the engine bay.
