    Re: Venter trailer rusting already!

    Eish Hunter! you traitor!
Wit the the Isuzu it should get there a little slower but not THAT slow, and you have time to enjoy the trip.

I have a 1998 Glider Trailer (Effectively Venter) in...

    Re: Northern Kruger report

You have had some amazing sightings and taken some really good pictures.
    I am VERY jealous!!!
Thank you for all this information.
Although we do know Kruger very well, it is always good to get...
  4. Re: Towing stability with mountain bikes at back of caravan

No experience specifically with a bike rack
    .
However from our caravanning days and to a lesser extent with the trailer:

Any additional weight at the back of the towed vehicle would tend to...

Re: New member in need of advice

From an aging overlanders point of view with an aged 4x4, just my 2c worth:

Before we did any "major" overland trip we always had our suspension, links, hoses, belts etc. fully checked out before...

    Re: Northern Kruger report

For us the Central and northern parts of KNP are the greatest.
I know many do not agree.

However although there are fewer animals, due to water scarcity, those that are there (and there are many)...

Re: Engine Warm Up Time 3.0Tdci

    Don't worry - Be happy. :)
Running at ow temp causes excess engine wear.
So the faster it heats up (TO NORMAL) the better.
If it stays in the normal range then all is good.

Re: Loss of power when towing WJ

My experience is on the very old Isuzu, so take that into account.

It does sound like a fuel related issue:
In the Suuz it would usually be air in the diesel piping between tank and fuel pump or...

    Re: Old transkei

I also would not recommend wild camping there.
Sticking to the known campsites is most likely fine.
Try reading up on recent trip reports by others - these are usually a wealth of information....

Re: KZN GTG Mlalazi/ Ongoye Forest 6-8 Nov 2020

Are these dates now finalised ?

We really want to attend but very likely not camping due to SWAMBO's medical issues.

So looking for a B&B or self catering close by for (say) three nights that...

  12. Re: Tires on your trailer / caravan - Best before date?

I eventually replaced my original trailer tyres (1997) with plenty on tread depth on, in Aug. 2018 and then only because the sidewalls near the rim were starting to show radial cracks. The spare...

While respecting your opinion, this is, in my opinion, equivalent to saying that the human race is overpopulating the planet (which we ARE) and therefore we should do nothing about combatting the...

Re: Elephants dying in huge numbers ?

When we were in Hwange GR in Zimbabwe last (Nov. 2012) we experienced the same thing except in larger numbers.
Reported to the authorities there and were told that it was "normal" at the end of a...

Re: KZN GTG Mlalazi/ Ongoye Forest 6-8 Nov 2020

Mmm ... the "spirit" of the pan - so all we need to add are the lilting sounds of a pan flute (Pan, the Greek god of nature and shepherds).;)
I think some other "spirits" may play a part, although I...

Estee I get the drift, but which language is "umami"?
In the local lingo's it seems to be "mother" generally speaking.

Riaan certainly knows how to wield that pan - met out a doubt, and with some...

    Wow!!!

    Re: Fridge, cover or not?

    THIS.

Our NL Weekender is fitted in the canopy of the Suuz and sometimes gets direct sunlight plus the hjeat that builds up inside the canopy when closed.
    Essential.
    Also protects the fridge...

    Re: 265/75/16 will they fit?

I think all you can do is work on a moving average over the last 4 or 5 tanks.
Another problem is that the attendant does not always refill to exactly the same level, airlock issues etc.
    Then there...

    Re: 265/75/16 will they fit?

In my opinion (only) the 16 rim is the best one for overlanding.
A good compromise giving off-road ability without too much impact on fuel consumption.
In fact I think many of the older Isuzu...

I also need to get OUT.

Unfortunately we (as in SWAMBO and I), do have a lot of limitations right now (more or less unpredictable), which...
