Re: Most "Comfortable" family road vehicle?

One manages with what one has to work with! ;D But in seriousness there is a lot of stuff that simply gets left off the list if your space is limited. Luckily I have the option of a trailer for the...

Re: Most "Comfortable" family road vehicle?

I hear the CX5 is really good, my pick would be a Q5. I swapped my Treg for a Q5. Yes there are lemons out there but just look for a nice one. The Q5 is a really fantastic all rounder.

    Skip the 2...

    Re: 4x4 Toy suggestions??

Drive a WJ Grand Cherokee before you pull the trigger on the D2, I was faced with the same choice some years ago and was basically committed to the D2 until I drove the Jeep. Both good choices, but...
  7. Re: What are your non negotiables when buying a 4x4?

Is there a link between the dealership network, general perceived reliability and a persons general risk appetite? Now those would be some interesting stats...
  8. Re: What are your non negotiables when buying a 4x4?

I have to agree with that, sure there are other items too, but there are vehicles that on paper tick the boxes that won't get considered. For some of those there are good reasons, but for some there...

Re: Driving an automatic. Any general advice?

For flat towing the transfer case needs to be in neutral, effectively disengaging the gearbox and engine from the rest of the drive line. if you were to leave it in either high or low range you will...

Re: Driving an automatic: Any general advice?

Check your vehicle manual on that one, plenty of auto boxes should remain in drive while stationary so fluid is circulated through the box.

The other important item one should be cognizant of is...

    Re: Gc v6

Kinda like a coilsprung XJ with better diffs. I figure you can't go wrong with it unless you wanna tow heavy, then the V8 is probably better. But fuel consumption is probably about the same.

Grand Cherokee Re: Loud clanking soumd when car moves

There clearly was some miscommunication here, as prop/drive shaft was what I was talking about as well. I am however glad it is resolved! Hopefully the Jeep will be putting a smile on OP's face...

Re: 2 Different tyre sizes on 4X4

I think we will be better able to advise with more details.

    What vehicle?
    How big is the difference?

Probably not the best thing to do, but might be ok depending on the above.

  34. Re: Tyres, Mags and Rims: Trade, Buying, Selling, Swap, Give-away or whatever ....

Re: Changing of tyres, by Swambo

The extendable power bar from Midas or equivalent is a good solution to this problem, most cars come with a wheel spanner that is just barely serviceable.
Once you have the power bar do a couple of...
