The camera man did not have a lot of confidence and only started recording after the initial start up.

    Re: W115 240D - Covid project

For a 46year old car the interior still looks good. Still dusty but I'll get to it this week. Only the speaker cover did not stand up to the elements well.565121

The old lady surprised me. New diesel in-line filter in this afternoon. Manual bleed pump still works fine after replacing the perished diesel fuel line. I swinged the motor twice without warming the...

Haven't tried yet. Drained the oil yesterday and replaced the filter. Damn dirty job!

Got a new cheapy inline filter from the local garage while filling up, too much solid gunk in the old one....

Re: Your Diesel: RPM at 120km/h

Since a Pajero was mentioned I'll add:

    2011 Toyota Corolla 2.0 D-4D.
    2100 @ 120

With a 5100 red line I should be able to do 290 km/h without going into the red. For that I'll need a pretty...

Definitely not bio diesel ZuluCowboy. Definitely has an odour to it as Prof said.

Found the reason why the pump wouldn't prime, a perished fuel line and what looks like a genuine Mercedes in line...

Thanks for the replies Bere, Prof, ZuluCowboy and Jelo.

    W115 240D - Covid project

My son and I started some work on a 1974 W115 Mercedes 240D. The car hasn't run for a couple of years but it was driven on a regular basis before putting it in storage. It has been in my family for...

I concur HobieDave. I experienced something similar recently. One of the cells on my 2 year old battery was faulty. It seemed as if it charged correctly and the voltage seemed fine without any load...

    Re: 2017 PS towing capacity?

I don't think they actually changed anything mechanically, just a change in paper work.

Remember that in SA you are only legally allowed to tow up to the vehicle's kerb weight in any case (around...
  20. Re: 2020 Australian review on the Fortuner, Everest, Pajero and Prado

I think it was a well balanced review but am I the only person that are gobsmacked about the Prado's pricing in Oz?

I used R10.85 to the Aus dollar and this is what I got.

    They pay R618k for...

JK1 that is a Gen 3 Pajero. I am no expert but on the Gen 3 the bearing is replaced as part of the hub if I am not mistaken. You can speak to Freek at Mitspro in Centurion or to Henk at Pajero...

Re: LC VXR 2017 Air conditioner filter

You want to keep the rest of the aircon ducts as clean as possible, it's easier to replace the filter than to try and clean all the ducts after the filter perished.

Re: Pajero 3.5v6 1999 model info required

Hi Johan, maybe add the photo first. It probably is a blister fender or also known as the Gen 2.5. But there is a small chance it might be an early Gen3.

Also see the following thread if it is a...

Re: PAJERO and PS ENGINE MODEL NUMBERS

The second generation Pajero Sport had the 2.5 4D56 engine in two outputs and the same 3.2 4M41 as the Pajero Gen 3 and 4.

There are however different versions of the 3.2 e.g. a change to common...

Re: Land Cruiser 4.2 1HZ Double cab speed uphill?

Smoke on an incline in an old school diesel is a given. I regularly get the 4.2's on the incline past Rigel Ave in Pretoria and most of them smoke a bit. With 94kW and 280 Nm you need to be patient,...

    Re: Everest - 3.2 or 2.2BiT

I fully agree with you. As far as I know gears 8, 9 and 10 are overdrive gears and rather meant for economy. So you will see a lot of gear changes when towing in those gears.

    Re: Everest - 3.2 or 2.2BiT

3.2 tows better than the biturbo, that is according to the Australians in any case. For everyday use the biturbo is better/more fuel efficient.
