    Re: Defender LS2

Drove fine, like a normal Puma.

They mounted the gear levers a bit higher, so it doesn't sit too much lower than the normal Puma gear lever.

Well, if you are worrying about fuel consumption,...

    Re: Defender LS2

There's one for sale at Auto Exellence Stellenbosch, the conversion was done by Burnco.

Drives very nicely, it has an R380 gearbox with Disco 2 gear lever.

It still has the Puma ECU, so...

Discovery 4 Re: Discovery 4 Lexus conversion

Speaking of conversions, I drove a Puma 110 that had an LS2 engine, mated with a D2 autobox & R380.

It actually drove very nicely, almost felt 'standard' - but not the fuel consumption, of course!

You can also do the fix preventatively, as soon as you start hearing the timing chain noise.

Re: Advice on how to proceed with Indie workshop

Gents, one final update in this sorry saga.

After I left the coils with the workshop in September, I never heard from them again. I queried whether they sold the springs a few times, but were told...

    Defender Re: Slickshift

    I bought mine from https://www.onlinegearboxparts.com/product/defender-puma-slickshift/

Cheaper if you know someone who goes to the UK often, it's not a bulky/heavy item to bring back.
  13. Re: what have you done with / to your Range Rover (Big Body) today

Finally fitted the new wheel nuts, I think they look great. And most importantly, they are solid nuts - already struggled with one of the capped ones, so just-in-time!

  14. Re: what have you done with / to your Range Rover (Big Body) today

Bought a new set of solid steel wheel nuts, as the capped ones tend to fail when you are trying to change a tyre.

Discovery 3 Re: Tyre pressure for sand

There are two petrol stations within a 5km drive from the Dunes entrance, we just drive there at 40-60kmh and pump up tyres there.

Yeah, you have now introduced yet another (big) variable in the system by having a remap done.

Nonsense, I have 255/55R20 road tyres on my RRS and run 1.0-0.8 bar at Atlantis Dunes all the time with no issues whatsoever.

The only thing you have to pay attention to with the V8s is to not...

Start at 1.0 bar, and you can go as low as 0.8 - just dont put foot when turning hard and you'll be fine!

I've ordered a set of solid wheel nuts from Auto Excellence (they order from LP4A?) , and also a set of these from the US for my RRS:

Re: 19 AT tires for Disco 5?

Hold on, 235/65 gives you more sidewall than 255/55 and only 0.25mm less than 255/60.

I would stick to that size: a narrow & tall tyre does better off-road than a wide & short one, especially in...

Didn't the D5 come out with 255/60R19, specifically because D4 owners complained about the 55 profile tyres?

    @BruceT can you confirm?

That 235/65R19 size doesn't sound right...
