Re: Can I just unplug a chip?

I believe so yes. Will have to be removed by SAC or Dastek agents.

You will know immediately whether it has a wiring harness, as it is quite a bulky item with 3 or 4 different plugs on it that...

Re: Can I just unplug a chip?

    Just unplug it yes.

That is to say if it was not hardwired in.

If it came with a wiring harness, then you can just unplug.
  3. Re: How do the ridgid panels fare on caravans and canapys

They are hinged together like a suitcase and not meant to both be open permanently.

I used two pieces of alu angle iron along the length of the canopy on each side to which I riveted drawer...

    Re: I bought a fridge...now what

I think the OP is reluctant to spend the money for a proper setup, which will probably cost way more than the fridge.

But what is a proper setup? Even the most basic setup will cost a few bucks....
  11. Re: How do the ridgid panels fare on caravans and canapys

    They will work fine.

But from an aesthetic point of view, I would want the panels to be at almost as wide as the canopy itself. So that you're able to use those slots for a roof rack as well if...
  12. Re: How do the ridgid panels fare on caravans and canapys

I have two 85W rigid panels permantly fixed to my canopy and I have traveled for close to 8 years with them on some of the worst corrugations to be thrown at you in Moz, Botswana, Namibia and good...

Re: First real camping trip. Advice needed.

Four people in a Tuna and camping.

Will you be towing? Matrasses takes up a lot of space. Then there is the tents, sleeping bags, cooler/fridge, camp kettle/pots etc etc

Brezza, read through these threads and make a decision.

Depending on the application you require it for, it may very well last you a lifetime.

    Re: Inverter and charger combination

    2500 meaning Watts?

Not even modified sine wave inverters are as cheap as R1/watt.

It sounds like rubbish in my honest opinion.

    Pictures? A link maybe?

  24. Re: Radio equipment iIdentification required.

Ok yes, I have a fair idea how repeaters work and this makes some sense.

But what about ham repeaters where the offset is 0.600. This according to me is still very close to each other, yet I have...
  25. Re: Radio equipment iIdentification required.

Thanks Fluffy, but still way over my head. ;D

In practical terms, why would one need it on a farm (or a private game reserve in this case)?
  26. Radio equipment iIdentification required.

    Hi radio hams,

I came across this thing the other day and was hoping someone could help me id it?

It looks like some sort of RF filter / duplexer type thing.

    What is its purpose?

    Fluffy...

Re: CTek D to DC charger

Agree with this. There are too many other possible scenarios as to why they struggled with that setup.

Re: CTek D to DC charger

I would think in this case, the PSU would basically be your alternator. It can only deliver a max of 8 amps and that's it.

The dc to dc charger in turn can deliver a maximum of 20 amps when the...

For your current discussion it is not really of great concern, I'm just pointing out that the highlighted part is not correct at all.

The Ctek actually does exactly this and I have witnessed it...
