Re: Maintenance for short distance commuter

The issue of safety when riding a bicycle (or even a motorbike) is a very valid reason. At least on a motorbike you can maintain the same speed as traffic.

Thanks. It was not part of the std. service schedule I believe, but will ask another dealer too.
  4. Ford & Mazda Ranger T6 belt, pulley, tensioner replacement due?

    Hi guys

Had a 105 000km service done on my T6 yesterday. Routine items done & brake disks skimmed, also pads replaced. Ford advises to now also replace the belt, pulley & tensioner, total for...

    Re: Garmin.. New or used?

If you'd asked me years ago, I would have said go used (with a smile). Now? Just buy new. The batteries are no longer easy to replace, and if you need a new battery, there's already a chunk of the...

I'm with Fluffy on this one. Very little to be gained in cleaning panels. I usually wait for rain.

At this point, no thanks, but I'd reconsider if they can up their game similar to what the Koreans have done.
  9. Re: Help On Running a 220v Fridge on an Inverter/Solar Setup

I will leave the fine detail to the real boffins, but:

    1. I would not risk a fridge compressor on modified sinewave, as it uses an induction motor;
    2. 48Ah is a small battery and likely also not...

    Re: Alpicool LGT60 Portable Fridge/Freezer

You might also find ones of similar dimensions and capacity in NL, Dometic or Snomaster. No experience of the Alpicool. Have a NL Weekender and a small (18l) Waeco, no issues with either.

Pretty much similar to geysers, is there any difference in keeping water warm at a set temp and heating it from cold? The amount of energy used should be more or less the same? Can't see a kettle...

The small Nespresso machines like the Inissia are around 1200-1300 Watt.

Because the load is resistive, a 1500VA inverter should do the trick, but very little headroom / spare capacity for...

    Re: Petrol-driven or Solar/Battery-driven generator

I really do not recommend running motor-driven appliances from modified sinewave inverters, really bad for fridge compressors. Fridges and freezers do not need backup power for most load shedding...
