Re: Frozen Snoek - What to do?

You don't have to wait until it's totally defrosted.

If you can open the snoek, then you can braai it.

Some of my colleagues insist that it's juicier that way.(if that's the correct term)

    Re: Warn winch cable replacement

You can get one made. Mine was and is a bit longer than standard.

You can get galvanized or stainless steel.

    Google in your area.

Re: Engine cut out / 300 tdi. Troubleshoot help

    Ignition barrel
    Fuses
    Starter wires
    Cut-off solenoid
    Immobilizer

That's about all that can stop an 300Tdi.

If you can short the starter to start the engine, then you can drive.

    Re: Rude awaking, Defender Tyres

Well then you're a bit out of touch.

    It's a big problem there.

    Re: Tyres losing pressure

OP was losing up to 0.8 bar not losing to 0.8 bar.

I still say it's air pressure and temperature related.

Most are the same. I have one at work.
    Not really branded

FLIR is a bit unnecessary in my opinion.

Re: 300tdi oil pressure mystery after rebuild

Some of the engines I've rebuild took 5-6 3 second swings with the starter to get the oil pressure.

Old trick on the V8 was to pack the pump with vasiline.

It primes the pump faster amd...

Re: Kgalagadi pictures thread, NO cat pics allowed!

My MIL didn't hear clearly when I said the name of the PCG.

So she told my daughter it's a "Bliksemvalk".

Driving behind the grader on the lower dune road isn't nice.

    Defender Re: Rear crossmember replacement

The older ones didn't have enough drainage holes and rusted easier.

    I repaired my previous one.

Now you can buy a rear cross member.

    Just measure cut and weld.

    Re: Tyres losing pressure

Outside air pressure and temperature will also have an effect.

But this will be in the 0.5 and less range, I think.
I see it often during the winter with passing cold fronts.

Ja, that sounds like the relief valve.

1st or 2nd gear means high revs and oil is nice and cold.

    What he said.

I usually buy the 2 o-rings and clean the whole thing.
That plastic thingy at the bottom is very expensive in relation to the o-rings.

    I listened to my wife.

She was adamant that one of the tappets was adjusted incorrectly.

I checked today and she was right.

Well her father is a diesel mechanic.

No, I still think it's cast aluminium. Maybe welded together.

Some places at the holes are too thick for pressed.
