  1. Re: Advice needed!gache gache to mana in one day with a stop in kariba?

Your route makes good sense to me. We drove from Masuma Dam to Masumu Lodge in Binga with a shopping stop and lunch at the Baobab in Hwange town. We then drove via Dete which was a stunning drive,...
  2. Re: Camping in the North-Western Kafue (Lushimba/Busanga Plains)

As promised, a quick report back on Mapunga (I'm currently in Senyati, still running tours, so won't have much time to reply).

We spent 2 days in Mapunga in mid August and had an excellent time,...

Re: Dizhana Camp - warning, camp closed

I stayed in Dizhana for 2 nights on 15 and 16 July, having driven through Savuti in the hope I would find somewhere to stay. The ablutions had been repaired and the water was being pumped...

Re: I need info about Caprivi strip

    Hi Maurizio

The owners of the Nkasa Rupara lodge, Simone and Laura, are Italian so may give you additional helpful info if you ask them.

    Re: Canoe hire at Nyamepi?

As things have turned out, she's managed to arrange a transfer from Gache Gache to Kariba to join a tour from Chirundu, and I'll pick her up at Vundu Point 4 days later after the rest of us have been...

    Carmine bee-eaters at Kalizo

    Hi

I was intending to stop off at Kalizo this August to see the carmine bee-eater colony, but it looks as though the lodge is being re-developed (and taken over by Gondwana?). Does anyone know if...

    Canoe hire at Nyamepi?

    Hi All

Does anyone know anything about hiring a canoe for a day paddle out of Nyamepi? In theory canoes are available for up to 4 hours, but I can't find any detail. Can you launch from the NP...

    Re: Nkhasa Rupara Community Camp

Ha - all making sense now! I sent a reservation request to Nkasa Rupara lodge for a couple of stopovers at the community camp in July and September, but haven't heard anything back. We'll just turn...
  9. Re: Camping in the North-Western Kafue (Lushimba/Busanga Plains)

There's also the new camp at Mapunga (at least I hope it is as I'm booked there in August!). You can most easily find the details on Facebook, but they're about 10km closer to Busanga than Kafwala...

    Savuti Channel news?

Time for the annual question - since 2010 at any rate! What's the feeling about whether the channel is likely to flow this year? Has the earthquake tilted things the right or wrong way? (We spoke...
  11. Re: Camping in the North-Western Kafue (Lushimba/Busanga Plains)

Very interesting idea, Arturo, I'd never considered the possibility.

What's the access like from Kasempa, and from the M9? Can you come up the western cutline of the park if you're coming from...

  13. Re: Botswana trip - 10/2017 - 17 days itinerary

    Hi David

As a fellow European who flies down to Joburg to hire 4x4s for Botswana (sooo much cheaper), it always surprises me how long it takes to pick up the vehicle at the airport, do some...

Re: Suggestions needed for 4x4 rental in JHB

    Hi
For good value and friendly service, try Ivory 4x4 hire. My experience of Bushlore was that they didn't want to take care of repairs, but Ivory sorted problems with no quibble.

A couple of questions for you - Did you need permission to drive out via Jecha? And, how long did it take from Nyamepi?
    Thanks

    3 nights in Khaudum area

    Hi

I'm thinking about spending 3 nights in the Khaudum area next September, on our way from Ngepi/Divundu to Maun. As part of that it would be good to 'do' a bushman 'experience', though we're...

Re: Kenya 2016 - A trip to Lake Turkana

  24. Re: Anyone with research experience in National Parks?
