    Re: Engine swap.

While not so easy to find nowadays unless you know the right person, the Chevy 6.2/6.5 with a Gilo bellhousing was dead easy and relatively cheap to convert the old F250 to a good engine make :).....
  2. Re: In a slight pickle.. Needing to find Land cruiser back diff in Botswana

If you are up for replacing the ring and pinion and seeing as you have a semi-float rear diff with c-clip side shafts per your picture, you can always swap the front diff/centre section into the rear...

    Re: 2019 Suzuki Jimny Build

40mm. Yep, looks good lifted with bigger tyres compared to the stock height and tyres.

    Re: 2019 Suzuki Jimny Build

    Hi Jimny1,

It is indeed an ARB bullbar. We have a Mega World (Centurion) so we supplied and fitted the accessories, including the bullbar. This is a client's vehicle, not mine. The tyres are...

    Re: 2019 Suzuki Jimny Build

Looking good snazzy! If I may suggest, look at lifting your Jimny. Aside from looks, it gets the front tie-down point away from the ground and a good kit will improve the ride also, while...

Re: Land Cruiser 4.2 1HZ Double cab speed uphill?

I don't know what the real answer is. But, it used to be the case that you only send your pump and injectors to that oom, but that oom has now either retired or passed away.

Re: Land Cruiser 4.2 1HZ Double cab speed uphill?

We have a few 1HZ's, including a pair bought on the same day. They are used under the same circumstances on the farms yet one pulls better and gives 1km/l more. The "bad" one must have been a Friday...

Hi Michael. Congratulations on the clean Cruiser! While slow, she's got a ton of go with coils all round and triple lockers.

Hang tight, we'll get through lockdown and then we can all get out and...

Thank you for the kind reference Sebastiaan!

  11. Re: Watter turbodiesels was beskikbaar in 70 reeks in Aus?

    I stand corrected
  12. Re: Watter turbodiesels was beskikbaar in 70 reeks in Aus?

The shorty with the 2.4 you are thinking of is not a true J7 Cruiser (official designation however states otherwise). PZ's came in PZJ70/73/77's. The one you are thinking of is the Cruiser II or...
  13. Re: Watter turbodiesels was beskikbaar in 70 reeks in Aus?

To my knowledge, these only came in the shorty J7 wagons, not the full size pickups and wagons. I may, however, be mistaken.

Re: Tyres too heavy to balance?

The rim weighs 11.1kg or 25.4lbs. You want to bet again that a 7:50/16 tyre, flap and tube weigh just shy of 40kg? They do not. Instead, around the 15kg mark. Thus just beyond half the stated 45kg...

Re: Tyres too heavy to balance?

Bluntly stated, use a better, less lazy tyre shop. Any place actually instead of the one you tried. A 7:50x16 tyre, even if it has 20 plies and the rim is 10mm thick (which is not the case), is not...

Safari Re: Safari bakkie by gekoop

Oom Grips, do not forget about the Sterling rear axle Fords used in the Super Duty. It makes the D70 look weak by comparison. 10.5" ring and a 3 bearing pinion which GM taught them with the 14 bolt....

Re: 2 year solo 4x4 africa exploration

See earlier response. 1.5 kg is not a major issue over the cab. You have a front sway bar for stability up front. If you must and remain concerned about cornering stability, fit a rear (upgraded)...

Re: 2 year solo 4x4 africa exploration

Correct on the summation. The doors on all quality canopies are unfazed by a pair of tracks on them.

As an added note, I would have considered mounting your tent on a rack a little offset to the...

Re: 2 year solo 4x4 africa exploration

Re: Biggest tyres possible on a 79 Cruiser?

Not a problem (I have fitted and ran 8.25's on 5.5" wide split rims on a K25 Chevy). Biggest issue I foresee is the lack of tyre choices in that trailer/truck size. You will get many play options...

Re: Biggest tyres possible on a 79 Cruiser?

You don't really even need a lifted Cruiser to fit 255's. These are in no way too much tyre for a Cruiser. They are even narrower than the standard 265/70R16's and the somewhat larger sidewalls may...

Re: Ctek 250S + aux. battery problem

The Ctek, like other imported DC-DC systems, has a sensor wire which is intended to measure the battery's temperature and taper off charging rate to avoid overheating the battery.

    I would look at...
