Re: Patrol heat guage issue....Wierd one

Is it loose Petri? If so the answer might be to replace it with a better quality connector?

Re: White metal casting for restoration

I guess it's doable but I am concerned that there is no direct link between rotation and feed.

I think the idea of doing it in a lathe has merit, but I would rather control the process by hand...

    Re: Slide on canopies

My dad had one. At first the mechanism for taking it off was useless as it relied on legs with wheels on, and you slid the camper off the vehicle. This only worked on flat concrete.

    We re-designed...

Re: White metal casting for restoration

Mygoggie, my thinking aparatus is not as refined as Brain, but it does it's best work when given some time to ruminate.

It has come up with the following overnight:
I don't think the depth of the...

Re: White metal casting for restoration

An external guide should be pretty easy. Maybe as simple as a triangular-shaped sheet of transparancy taped to the outside of the housing?

As for the single entry, that makes it considerably...

Re: White metal casting for restoration

I like the concept, but considering that the cut's pitch needs to be closer to radial than axial, perhaps a large and nicely-machined dowel (that fits exactly inside the bush) with a T-handle, with...
  9. Re: New fuel and engine misfire. Possibility or coincidence?

I have experienced several instances of dirt getting through fuel filters and jamming pumps, so I think it is possible.

Re: Why a "high lift jack"

Indeed. Looks like almost everybody is seriously scared of it.

Honestly, if used with common sense and understanding, it's far less dangerous than the vehicle it is bolted/clamped/tied to.
  11. Re: New fuel and engine misfire. Possibility or coincidence?

I would say it is more likely to be dirt in the tank picked up when it was close to empty and slowly making it's way through the system and getting stuck in the injector?

Re: White metal casting for restoration

Mygoggie, sorry for deliberately taking your thread off topic.

  19. Re: Where do you want the "fuse" during a rope recovery?

Agree with the concept but I think it could be very difficult to implement without seriously cutting into the amount of force you have available to recover your vehicle. Calculating exactly how much...

    Re: Ctek Sense (Nonsense)

I must be honest this whole concept of doing everything from one's cellphone is not to my taste, and especially when going camping.

When going camping one of my specific goals is to be less...
  21. Re: I am thinking to switch from Canon to Fuji.

A couple of years ago, I traded in a full frame for a crop-frame.
In some ways, the crop-frame has out-performed the full frame, but that is all due to the type of camera and the differences in UI...

  25. Re: Interesting video about roof racks - Ronny Dahl

I don't think many vehicle manufacturers do, but on the other hand I don't think it is a valid concern as I don't think the roof load limit has much if anything to do with the structural rigidity of...
  26. Re: Interesting video about roof racks - Ronny Dahl

I only watched one of the two.

However, 75kg is not far below average, and very few vehicles have a roof load limit over 100kg. I have certainly significantly overloaded my roof many times (and...
  27. Re: Another ASPW Perspective: Stop using diff locks

Re: Inside Vehicle Tater Tank Pump - QA

I would think it depends on how you are using the water.

If you want to wash your car with it, the higher the better. If you want to heat it through a geyser, you need to check the specs of your...

Re: ASPW's latest build in Oz

    Re: Torque(Nm) and power(kW)

  34. Re: How to predict Sand Dune (uphill) driving quality based on specs?

Ground pressure is measured in the same units as any other pressure, be that Psi or Pa or Bar or whatever and it is the pressure the tire (and thus the vehicle) exerts upon the surface it is standing...
  35. Re: How to predict Sand Dune (uphill) driving quality based on specs?

Ground pressure depends on just two factors. The tire's construction (how much force is needed to deform the tire with the valve removed) and the pressure they are inflated to. The weight of the...
