    Re: Which tyre jack.

If you have a roofrack, build a hinged lifting arm with a boat winch.

Re: Struggling to start after head gasket fix

These are easy enough to make - use a stainless steel pipe and weld a threaded "nipple" in the centre for the probe.

    Re: Which tyre jack.

Nothing wrong with the hydraulic jacks - car manufacturers would not include them as car jacks if they would not, and garages would not use them in bottle or trolley format. I bought my little 2t...

Re: Struggling to start after head gasket fix

Not sure on your vehicle? On some engines it's possible to drill and tap in another gauge. On the LR tdi it is easy to do this on the bleeding nut on the thermostat housing. Other methods are...

Re: Struggling to start after head gasket fix

The negative thing is that the probe reports the surface temperature where you connect it to. There will be a lag in eg the actual water temperature and the time it takes to heat the housing to this...

    Re: Which tyre jack.

Less when the tyre is flat. With a 235/85x16 (Defender tyre), the diameter is about 800mm. Clearance is about 350mm to the axle tube. The tyre height is 200mm. Subtract this and the axle tube...

Get a 2 or 3 stage bottle jack to overcome the above problem. I got one from Midas a few years back

Re: Elephants dying in huge numbers ?

The way I understood the "starvation" was that as their natural food gets less they are forced to eat less desirable food, which could include toxins.

"Claim"? There is plenty of evidence from experts proving the excess of ellies in this area. It's pretty clear to amateurs as well looking at the destruction of the natural habitat by them. ...

    Re: Camping Shower and Pump

I would be more worried about damage while lugging the can around in the campsite, or it accidentally falling over. But it is a nice simple concept, and you can also heat up your water by placing...

    Re: Camping Shower and Pump

Very nice. For flow rate, add an inline valve - not sure if Gardina has one?

I would also add protection for your tyre valves - they are bound to get damaged sticking out the side.

    Re: Camp shower

Ok thanks. That's why I do not like these fancy showers - you have little control of how much water you use and by the time the water temperature is adjusted, you have already wasted some water. ...

    Re: Camp shower

Just a question: The heading is "Camp Shower", but you are talking about 6l/min shower, with even a higher flow rate if you add extra cold water for temperature control.

    Is this for camping? If...

Streaming in low res is about 2Mbps, give or take. That equates to 900MB/hr, just under 1GB. What are you paying for mobile data per GB?

Re: Elephants dying in huge numbers ?

Some dispute this, saying that the elephants did not die of hunger. This might be true. But their hunger might force them to eat something poisonous.
