Nobody can argue with those stats. Well thought through....

But, on the other hand, there are: lies, damned lies and statistics.

  5. Re: So I bought a 1990 Hilux SFA - now where to refurbish?

The fundamental question is what you hope to achieve - just get it presentable and functional versus restoring. Looking at the pics, you will have to be very careful not to fall in the vortex of...

    Re: Tow Dolly regulations

From both a safety as well as a stress point of view, I strongly recommend you go the a-frame route. A dolly is an emergency option at best IMO. The only downside of an a-frame is that you cannot...

Only read this thread now. Will most definitely go and look tomorrow if my towbar has something like this. I have never heard about this and must confess I have never paid attention either.

Re: BMW/MINI Sandton IS IT A SCAM?

I recommend you be very careful with how you phrase your social media campaign. Complaining about poor service is one thing, but openly accusing them of a scam, could cause you a LOT of trouble.

    Re: Drones for kids

Now I see this differently. You buy the boy a drone. Teach him well so he looks after it. If he gets bored, you take it over. Killing 2 birds with one stone and no comments from SWAMBO.

Re: Olive die Patrol - Wat doen Ek??

    Verkoop, Petri.

Jou game is karre uitsnuffel, opkikker en dan swaai. Jy sal wel een of ander tyd n ander kar raakloop wat al jou bokse tiek, en dan begin daar weer n nuwe journey vir jou.

Re: Route from Morgans Bay into Natal

N2 remains the best option, despite its challenges. Just make sure you don't drive through the Transkei at night and prepare for your trip to take longer than anticipated.

    Re: Suzuki Ertiga

Also keep in mind that manufacturers' specs are as at sea level. Altitude up here in Gauteng reduces that by a significant margin.

Re: Spare wheel braai grid.. Who uses it?

I have never seen one like in Hedge's OP, but my choice has always been a little fold up grid in a bag - weighs nothing, takes up no space and a grid is easier to clean than a solid flat surface.

This discussion has now got my mind going: if a tyre is rated for a certain speed, how is that rating affected by load. For example, will a tyre rated for 180km/h on an unloaded Hilux will become...

Re: Why do you want to camp without electricity?

I think it is a combination of 2 factors: firstly you will have fewer people around (ie less noise, voices, music, push bikes, etc) and secondly the whole experience is different.

    I agree, go...

Poll: Re: What is better TC off or TC on?

  33. Re: Cost of owning a 4x4 that cost less than R40K

In this case it almost makes up 50% of the total costs. It skews the numbers IMO.
  34. Re: Cost of owning a 4x4 that cost less than R40K

surely tires should not be included in this specific case as it applies to any vehicle - unless you had to replace them directly after purchasing.
