Re: Marius's Gen4 Pajero life thread

Decided to gut the Catalytic converters.

Strange that I have two CATs on my Gen4.1. My boss has a Gen4.2 and he only has one CAT (immediately post turbo).

The CAT immediately after the turbo...
  2. Re: Do you need permission to change your engine

    I changed my touareg engine.

Went through the legalities. Car was still under finance

Informed the bank and insurance once done. No issues.

    Re: Touareg v6tdi or v10tdi

Dad bought his V10 treg at 145'000km.

It's now on about 420'000km without turbo problems and we changed one injector due to workshop neglecting to change diesel filter.

    If that is not...

    Re: 3.2 did engine gesoek

    All are direct injection

Gen3 pajero is pump injection (mechanical injectors)

    Gen4 pajero is common rail

All the tritons are common rail

Be careful though. There is a gen4.1 pajero and...

Re: Marius's Gen4 Pajero life thread

The CCA is the power rating of the battery.

The Ah is how long it can supply power. Ie, it can supply 90amps for an hour but doing that is not recommended.

I dont need a battery that can give...

I went for one of these. It fits snug thanks to the previous owner that widened the battery tray.

It swings the engine nice and fast.

  9. Re: 2009 Touareg II 3.6 VR6 - Honest opinions - Should I or shouldn't I?

Die Touareg se VR6 is 'n ander monster as die ou VR6 engines. Sy plat torque kurwe en hoog KW syfers wys in die gevoel van die kar. Gepaard met daai briljante 6 spoed automaties ratkas is dit rerig...
  10. Re: 2009 Touareg II 3.6 VR6 - Honest opinions - Should I or shouldn't I?

Daai VR6 maak torque laag. Mens dink dis n diesel as hy trek en dan as die revs klim raak dit net lekkerder.

Nee wat, daai vr6 is als behalwe pap. Hy maak goed krag. Self op lae revs.
  11. Re: 2009 Touareg II 3.6 VR6 - Honest opinions - Should I or shouldn't I?

    I maintain a VR6 treg like that.

That engine is a gem. Frugal when driven sedately and lots of power when needed but as with any high powered SUV, you have to feed the horses if you use them.

    Re: Power steering Issue?

Modern VW PS pumps are sensitive to the fluid spec. What fluid did you use? Generally you need the white bottle with green cap from Goldwagen. NOT ATF!

Re: Marius's Gen4 Pajero life thread

Had to fork out for a new battery. These Di-D engines need a healthy battery and mine was starting to let me down.

    Re: 2013 D4D Engine Bang

Your info may be correct that most of the cracked pistons are from bad injectors. But perhaps not all. I was merely giving a different optional scenario.

Perhaps a cracked piston allows so much...

    Re: 2013 D4D Engine Bang

That cracked piston looks like a defect. Not an injector issue. That crack is right in line with the gudgeon pin, so as the combustion pressure increases it cracks over the gudgeon pin. Even when...

I would tee into the reservoirs and find a proper pump.

You can not pump back via seat connection. The valveblock wont allow it.

Keep the schrader valves as an extra safety.

    Most failures...

Re: Marius's Gen4 Pajero life thread

You need to access the gearbox ecu and splice into a wire on the harnass.

The rest is simple but time consuming to route wires etc.

  24. Re: List of vehicles with a centre differential and its benefits over a transfer case

    Its a patrol ;)

I suppose 2wd with low range transfer case not locked, is cheaper than 4wd low with center diff and transfer case.
  25. Re: List of vehicles with a centre differential and its benefits over a transfer case

I would be very careful with 2wd low.

Having all that power going to one axle is an invitation to break something.

    Re: Touareg engine swap.

Wrong on so many levels. It will be cheaper to give his car away and buy another than to do a lexus swap.

Putting another engine in a touareg is economically not viable. Not by a loooong shot!
