    Will certainly go with a double wheel carrier. Horrible amount of additional weight, but as you say, don't need the stress after destroying a tyre.

    After discussions with Toyota and other tyre providers, I eventually went with the BF Goodrich KO2s of the same spec as the standard fitted Dunlops. Potential warranty issues, etc., etc.

    I have look at Bushlore used sales. Like what I see. Prices are right but - 185,000 km seems a little too high for comfort for me. Maybe not a problem on this vehicle? Maybe just accept that...

    I have a OzTent RV4 that will be going along. It gives me a place to work/edit photographs and video when staying a few days. RTT for one-nighters. The RTT will be a a bundutop or clamshell.

    I am coming to the conclusion that the bull bar and winch are probably not essential. My Navara has a winch and in 10 years I have never need to use it.

    I did a weight estimate of what the vehicle would be carrying. Very enlightening! One third of weight will be fuel and water.

    Yes, weight and weight distribution is critical.
    Agree, tyre size to remain standard. Mechanically, everything else to remain standard with the exception of heavier springs and shocks.

    Interesting. I did not know that a spare could be mounted under the chassis. The question now is: Double wheel carrier AND extended fuel tank. Or, one wheel carrier and no extend fuel tank.
