All Grand Cherokees are monocoque/unibody so unfortunately, no.

    Re: Energising Solar Panel Frames

OK so we've got a 2.4m free-standing electric fence as an outer perimeter, with razor wire-wrapped palisades with another electric fence attached to it as an inner perimeter. Motion detectors inside...

    Energising Solar Panel Frames

We have a major problem with solar panel theft on the farm.

An earlier thread about earthing solar panels got me thinking:

If one isolated the solar panel from the mounting structure (busbar...

    Cherokee Re: Lockers on KJ

The Chryco 8.25" diff is a solid piece of kit and is almost as good (99%) as the renowned D44.

Caveat emptor on locking the KJ's D30a/IFS - There have been a number of reports of split housings. ...

    Re: Older Wrangler reliability.

One point on TJ vs JK that the OP has on his list: Folding the windscreen down on a JK is a major PITA. Super quick on a TJ though. Same with the doors to a lesser extent.

  9. Re: Jeep Centurion dealership closed as from 1 July

I could fill several pages with a comprehensive answer but it boils down to sales volumes. The CJD and Fiat/FC/AR franchises simply do not have the new car sales volumes to sustain a (relatively...
  10. Re: Jeep Centurion dealership closed as from 1 July

I know they are not the most popular on the forum but American SUV have always done right by me. Not the cheapest but I'm an ex CJD P&A exec, so I can confidently say that they've never ripped me...

Grand Cherokee Low Mileage WK Hemi

I'm not a huge fan (and I've had two) but SWAMBO loves the WK. I've tried to convince her to look at the WK11 but no joy.

I want my JKU back and the only way that that is happening involves a WK...

    Re: Jeep Wrangler TJ

A TC drop can be DIY'd for R150 worth of washers and longer bolts. Worth a try and cheaper than taking the lift out. (I'm assuming its a spacer lift - Otherwise it'll be properly expensive to go...

    Re: Hitch receiver

I have and relatively successfully so, but with a HUGE caveat: Only straight pulls and no snatching!

Side pulls will bend the shackle pin (or worse) and a standard hitch receiver is simply not...

Re: Some more Namibia advice please.

With a few exceptions, diesels are generally unsuited to (big) dune driving. They tend to lack the rev range and a gear change on a big climb-out will stop you almost instantly.

    I'm not saying it...

Re: Engel 40 litre 12v power cable

    Hi Tony,
Sorry I don't, but I misplaced mine and was able to buy a new one off the shelf at my local 4x4 Megaworld. Around R250, iirc.

Re: Doing a proper lift on a WJ

The very early (Year Model 99) WJ's had DC front propshafts. Jeep changed to a CV shaft after a lot of NVH complaints. IIRC, there was a TSB, whereby they would swap out DC shafts for CV shafts...

Check with your local taxi spares/tyre outlet. Toyota Hiace Siyaya taxis have the same PDC as XJs. Prowhite steelies, just need to find the correct offset.

  27. Wrangler 2dr Re: Smoke in exhaust and dropping engine oil levels

  35. Grand Cherokee Re: Best brand and supplier of Engine rebuild kits

If it makes sense from a price point, OEM is always better. Rock Auto have a good rep - I doubt that they'd risk that on dodgy gaskets. With that said, again, stay away from Crown and Omix on...
