Re: Park Fees Payment to be Privatised

Thanks Pat. I guess this may affect the current rates, but on the other hand the system could be easier for folks like me still making every single booking without third parties. Looking forward for...

Will this affect the DWNP managed campsites as well (in terms of booking process)?

Re: Recommendation - Oka Swamps Travel and Tours

You're not wrong either, caught people with more than 2.5 bar! ....few EU, half of them south africans and locals (not kidding). Trucks with supplies for the lodges in Savuti or those just pulling...

Re: Recommendation - Oka Swamps Travel and Tours

When was the sandridge road ever in good conditions? Tough for sure, but doable for the newbies. Plus, lot of traffic, so if you get stuck, sooner or later someone shows up. Nobody ever died.

    Re: Overland December2020-January 2021

Consider that a similar plan I'm putting together (KPT, CKGR, Khwai, Savuti, Hwange, Makgadigadi pans) starting and returning to windhoek is going to take me 7 weeks. Yet I have to make choices and...

    Re: Hwange Ramblings trip report

Thank you TRON, I take that into consideration and being alone I don't even mind. For a picnic site for up to 12 people, would be surprised if they wouldn't.

    Re: Overland December2020-January 2021

Hi Jako, here some of my thoughts...

Mpaya-Mata is a long leg, I'd consider 9-10+ hours whether you go through the boso trail until Nossob, or the way round Tsabong-two rivers.
    The leg from...

    Re: Hwange Ramblings trip report

    Thanks Savuti.
This really helps me to clear up my mind. I thought that being may I could just show up and get a walk in rate. Since I'll be alone I can't afford the over 100 USD for the picnics...

    Re: Hwange Ramblings trip report

    Hi Savuti,
which area would you recommend in May? It seems that many agree that the Robbins area has too thick vegetation during that month. What about the Masuma Dam - Shumba - Nehimba area? And...

Re: Camping prices in Botswana is ridiculous

i don't disagree with you either. Unfortunately I wasn't around at the DWNP managed campsites days, so I just rely on the experiences I could read here. If DWNP management was so bad, can't say the...

Re: Camping prices in Botswana is ridiculous

Totally agree. By the way, I visited Botswana 4 years in a row since 2016. No camping fees have gone up DWNP or privately managed (as far as I can tell for Moremi, chobe, ckgr, nxai and makgadigadi)....

Re: Camping prices in Botswana is ridiculous

Also remember, here at SAN Parks, if you take a campsite, you pay around R400 for two people, and pay an extra R100 per person for additional people up to 6 people.

In Botswana you pay a daily...
  15. Re: Trip to Mabuasehube - April 2020 - Help Needed

Thanks eduardh. I'm actually going straight to ghanzi and stop there for 3 nights at tautona campsite to cut off the +/- 10 days I'll spend in KTP and a week in CKGR. I'll probably enter the park...

can you get the picture of the board? Is the board located at the Mogotho campsites only? If so I understand why I never saw it, cause I just never entered the area from Mogotho and never...

Re: Payment of park fees changes

No, you are not. The 10th will be one day fee for all dwnp parks. Last August, the day I left Savuti, didn't have to pay again as I entered Moremi in the afternoon.

Kgalagadi park fees and border controls

    Hi there,
I'm at early stage of planing a trip in Kgalagadi for late april/may 2021, camping only.
My itenerary would roughly be entering at Mata-Mata from Namibia (2 nights), move to Polentswa...
  30. Camping fees inside Hwange - solo traveler

    Hey there,

  32. Re: Advice regarding Khwai campsites and Nxai Pan..
