    I've watched a video with Ronnie Dahl in Aussie who swears by them. But there must be more to it than bigger holes, otherwise sand can come back up, needs to be a one way valve type arrangement.

    Presumably, you would want to have the alternator going into the one that goes through the switch, so that you can isolate it right?...

    My RockAuto part was the one that was faulty or incorrect voltage (i'm still not sure). Ended up getting one at Goldwagen. It's a Mercedes part.

    Luckily my aftermarket warranty covered some of it....

    So to close the loop on my problem. It was a faulty new glow plug controller (low voltage being supplied), once that was swopped out for another one everything started up just fine.
