Re: How to replace a Pajero?

Just the difference in suspension puts the car in a different league and the 3.8I petrol motor puts a big smile on your face. if your daily commute is not long, the petrol is better suited. Diesels...

  4. Re: Pajero 3.2 4x4 engagement- Lights on but grinding sound

You can of course just leave it in 4H, there is negligible difference in fuel consumption, no damage to drive train and you basically have an AWD car. In Botswana, Kruger and so on I do this all the...

    Gotta back Jens up here.

    Re: Saving the crank battery

Just for the sake of experimentation,

Pajtu has been standing this week so I wanted to give the battery a bit of charge. I have a small aux box, 50 amp Deltec wet cell. This is not my main aux,...

  9. Re: Pajero 3.2 4x4 engagement- Lights on but grinding sound

If the vacuum pressure on the actuator is wrong this will cause the 4x4 not to engage properly on the front shafts.

I don't see why not, Twee Rivieren is just down the rd.
  11. Another absolutely shameless plug for my Indie

Pajtu on our recent Kruger trip showed me that something was not quite right with the cooling system. I have a separate water temp gauge fitted and at times this looked to be too low a temp. Nothing...
  12. MediaRelease: Re: Winch hook, rated bow shackle or soft shackle?

If you are replacing wire with Dyneema on the drum, then I would say NO. You would need the rollers for wire but I think the rope will work with either.
  13. MediaRelease: Re: Winch hook, rated bow shackle or soft shackle?

Thanks and well spotted, mine came with the Dyneema rope winch already built in.

There are some good youtube vids on how to splice one onto the Dyneema

Have to admit I have a fair bit of...

Re: New National Luna Aux Battery Box

I modded a box for a mate and on opening the front panel, you can see that all of the input /outputs are basically direct. There is no solenoid or charging electronics inside.

    You can use the red...
  16. MediaRelease: Re: Winch hook, rated bow shackle or soft shackle?

Bow shackles scare me, I think they are one of the strongest components in a pull or snatch therefore, this means that some other component will go first leaving the shackle to become a missile.

    I...

  18. Re: Dual battery recommendations. What to get? High vs Deep

Your biggest problem is two fridges on one battery.

Lets say both fridges draw around 3.5 amps and both running at the same time, that's 7 amps. If your DOD on a good deep cycle is 50 % that is ...

Discovery 4 Re: Is it my fault- Discovery 4 in hospital.

If you are going to use long words, then I would say the propensity for this to happen under those circumstances as described would be indubitable.
  20. Re: Dual battery recommendations. What to get? High vs Deep

4x4 direct buddy, they have some good deals, 120 W single panel or even better 2 x 80 W made into a suitcase and a PWM controller

    Not too expensive
    ...
  21. Re: Dual battery recommendations. What to get? High vs Deep

Shwam that is a loaded question.

Fridge running at 3C in an ambient of 20C and it will run for a week, minus 18C in an ambient of anything over 35C and you will struggle without feeding it amps...
  22. Re: Dual battery recommendations. What to get? High vs Deep

The 4x4 community must be one of the worst to satisfy,

Domestic or commercial installations require batteries that charge during the day and discharge during the night and repeat(if not grid tied)...

Best thread on the forum. ;D
  24. Re: Dual battery recommendations. What to get? High vs Deep

Just to be sure, you have a crank battery and an aux, yes ?

High or deep will come down to personal preference, it has been hashed out on this forum more than a few times.

    My personal...
  25. Re: Dual battery recommendations. What to get? High vs Deep

I am liking it just fine, it stays in the trailer permanently with the solar panel live all the time.

Some say deep, some say high ? click here ...
  26. Re: Dual battery recommendations. What to get? High vs Deep

Knowing what I know now, I think a WRND with a DC_DC charger and a MPPT controller will probably be more effective than an NL powerpack and an added PWM if the same Volts are available.
  27. Re: Dual battery recommendations. What to get? High vs Deep

Once more I comment only from experience. When I bought the first Paj it had an NL powerpack and a deep cycle battery. First trip to Mabua in 40C+ and the battery could not keep up with the fridge...

Just be aware the roads are corrugated and you will need to be slow in some sections. Take this into account for your travel times and make sure everything is secure.
