    Re: Hilux vs Cruiser

The most limiting factor applies: if you drive a vehicle with 2000 kg tare, the maximum you may tow according to the law is a 2000 kg braked trailer.
If the manufacturer says the limit is 1500 kg...

Re: So a Corolla drove into my 4x4

A well equipped panel beater can measure the chassis' geometry, whether it's bend or not.
A decent wheel alignment place can then check, whether the axle has been bent or whether the suspension...

    Re: Prado 4.0v6 petro consumption

Fear not, differ away to your heart's content.
Have a look at the Toyota website, there under specifications, engine & drivetrain it says 4WD, not AWD.
Many AWD vehicles drive only 2 wheels most of...

    Re: Prado 4.0v6 petro consumption

    No, it's a permanent 4x4, not a softroader.
  7. Re: Aftermarket suspension Prado 120/FJ cruiser

The springs come in different constant weight ratings.
And yes, the shocks are the Nitro Chargers, nothing fancy.
  8. Re: Aftermarket suspension Prado 120/FJ cruiser

Well, if you go Old Man Emu all I can say is, you won't get "Stock Comfort", it will be much better.
I got OME on my FJ and am very happy. They key is to choose the correct constant load rating for...

Re: 4.5 land cruisers - Consumption?

Considering your tyres which are meant to be on a mining truck and the other mods on your Cruiser, that number is very good.

    Re: Steel Water Jerri Cans.

We use the blue plastic cans from Addis, the water in there is still fine after months of storage. And contrary to popular believe, they don't leak. They are cheaper and lighter than the metal cans.

Re: Should I reconsider my loyalty to Cooper??

I got the ST Maxx on my FJ and they are an ok tyre, no reason for unhappiness. However, I believe there is better value for money out there.
As to deflating your tyres: I always deflate for gravel...

Re: Keep the AT's or go road tires

It definitely depends on which AT tyres you compare to which HT tyres. A lot of tyres get louder when they get older, specially AT and MT tyres.
Years ago when I got a new Amarok, it came with some...

Re: Should I reconsider my loyalty to Cooper??

It says 2 ply on the tyre. They are from 2015 though. I use them on the rear axle of the FJ, they were the best 2 the FJ had on when I bought it. Kept them just in case, when I put the ST Maxx on....

Re: Should I reconsider my loyalty to Cooper??

Brand loyalty is brilliant - for the brand.
If you are not happy with the product, try something else. Only you know, whether or not you have asked too much from those tyres.
I got the ST Maxx on...

    Re: Thorn and bush scratches

Quite honestly, looking at the cost of VPS and the fact that it is not a 100% guaranty you won't get bush rash, I'd rather (and do) take my chances with polishing when the time comes to sell. Really...

    Re: Is this it?

There is nothing wrong with being comfortable while camping. If some people make it a hobby to save water, that's their thing. I don't need a TV when camping, but I wouldn't want to have to think...

The newer models since 2016 have got canvas zip doors. Maybe change yours to that?

Re: LC105GX suspension question - ratings

Old Man EMU does give you around 50 mm lift, not much more. I might be mistaking, but your axles are solid and the castor angle shouldn't be affected by lifting the rear?

So, when Ford screws up the the gearbox design (installs a inapt hydraulic pump) again, as they have done how many times before on the Ranger, that is fine, because it's such an awesome bakkie with...

Re: Please help me back into my car.

Graphite spray should work. I squirted in some alcohol water mix, since I knew it's slaty dust. I wouldn't use oil based lubrication either.
  28. Re: Ford Ranger vs Isuzu D-MAX vs Toyota Hilux 2020 Comparison

I would regard it very much as the owner's problem if the vehicle stops driving and coasts to a hold next to the road, because the gearbox decides it had it.
It's also not great for any owner if...

Re: LC105GX suspension question - ratings

I remember OME had 3 weight options, light, medium and heavy. Is that 200 / 400 / 600 kg or is there an option lighter than 200 kg?

In your case I would probably go with the medium setup. See how...
