    Re: Mazhou Campsite - Mapungubwe

We were there quite long ago. The ablutions are old, but generally kept clean. I think if the campsite is full to capacity, they might be under some pressure.

    The ablutions are not your...

    Re: GD6 Manual or Auto

None of the few small annoyances I have with my GD6 Fortuner has to do with either the engine/gearbox combo nor towing capability nor fuel consumption.

For me the gearbox gearing down is just a...

    Enjoy the 150.

We had a VX for a couple of months after the TX in the thread I posted. They are superb vehicles.

Re: KNP: Lower Sabie camp closed

But no sympathy for Lower Sabie staff. Geesh. You are something.

Why are you even on a thread about Lower Sabie if you dislike the camp so vehemently. Go troll elsewhere.

    KNP: Lower Sabie camp closed

Lower Sabie has been closed until further notice due to the high incidence of staff members testing positive.
  8. Re: National Luna 90 Liter Twin Cooling issues

There is your problem IMO. Camping fridges are horribly bad at freezing stuff. As I said in another thread, they will keep solidly frozen stuff frozen even at -10, but don't expect it to freeze even...
  9. Re: National Luna 90 Liter Twin Cooling issues

No, I mean the meat that you packed in the NL 2 weeks before you left: was that meat frozen at the point when you packed it in the NL? Or did you want the NL to freeze it?
  10. Re: National Luna 90 Liter Twin Cooling issues

Did you freeze your meat before packing it in the National Luna?
  11. Re: TSHWANE mass roll out of forced pre-paid meters

Fair enough, so not easy to bypass, but I believe anything can be broken in Africa.

My question still stands: how will City of Tshwane fund this?
  12. Re: TSHWANE mass roll out of forced pre-paid meters

And I bet the new meters will either be stolen, broken or bypassed pretty quick.
  13. Re: TSHWANE mass roll out of forced pre-paid meters

I am curious where City of Tshwane is going to find the funds for such a massive roll out. There is barely money for basic maintenance like replacing street lights and filling potholes.

    Re: Swartberg pass

The only restriction is towing something. There is a clear sign at the start of the pass on the Oudtshoorn side that says no caravans allowed, but most ignore that. :( Which is a pity because it is...
  16. Re: Leopard caught Dog at Bradnberg White Lady campsite.

NTRyan, what a chilling account. So sorry for the dog which got taken:'(

Just re-affirm my healthy respect, bordering on fear, towards leopards.
  17. Re: Leopard caught Dog at Bradnberg White Lady campsite.

Agreed, just saying that in the (hypothetical) case where a big healthy dog is chosen as the next meal for whatever reason, my money is on the leopard.

Even a sickly leopard does huge amount of...
  18. Re: Leopard caught Dog at Bradnberg White Lady campsite.

I honestly don't think even a full grown 90kg Boerboel in prime condition will be much of a challenge for leopard, especially a male leopard. In my view this particular dog was there, easy meal,...
  19. Re: Front Runner Stainless Steel Camp Table Kit

Glad I stumbled on this thread, I was about to start a new one. ::)

My question is not about the kit and the storing on the roofrack, but the tables themselves. How sturdy are they? Can you sit...

    Re: Bush Lapa mods

Yes, quite annoying when you only need a small stream of water. We often wash our hands under the tap when stopping next to the road for a snack and my feet invariably ends up washed as well. ::)

Deepsynth, I think you have received the best advice more than once: rent. :) Not once, but multiple times.

So? Are you getting one. That is what we want to know.

BTW, for the short while we owned a VX, the suspension really impressed me.

    Re: Romer Cooler Boxes

Camping fridges are very inefficient in freezing and making ice. They will keep frozen stuff frozen, but struggle to freeze.

Ice is available almost everywhere, except of course places like the...

    Re: Richtersberg Campsite under water

I agree 100%. I would honestly not have identified the 'road' as a river and we have camped in a few riverbeds.

Due to this video I will be more aware in future.

    Beautiful spot though, going...

Re: Will I enjoy it/is it worth it

    My thoughts exactly.

Then as said, you either into caravanning/ camping because you really like it and are passionate about it, or you are not. To me it is not about saving money.

    For me it...

    Re: National Luna warranty claim

  31. Re: KNP / SANParks : Any Campsites with Private Ablutions?

    As said, none in Kruger.

One Sanparks campsite, aside from Nossob, that has private ablutions is Mokala.

Although Sondela has private ablution campsites, you still end up camping on top of...

    Re: Prado 150

The TX version has 17 inch rims, IIRC standard tyre size is 265/65 but I could be wrong. We did a lot of overlanding with my TX Prado on standard size tyres and had no issues with deflating.

    The...
