Re: Engines have come a long way!

Weight of rotating assy is a dealbreaker at low down torque. One of the features that make large straight six engines so popular.

That was the problem with Swambo`s VW bus. Must have stalled it a million times. Think that is where the new multi speed auto boxes comes into play.

Re: Land Cruiser 4.2 1HZ Double cab speed uphill?

First very nice Cruiser you have there. I fully agree with you on the suspension of the 76. I am so afraid that I will mess up the way it drives. The 76 have quite a soft suspension. My 79 have an...
  9. Re: 2020 Defender Namibia, koakoland, Van Zyls Pass driving impressions

Drivers usually make new tracks next to old ones if the old tracks are unpleasant to drive. Badly corrugated or rutted.
Maybe the suspension is not as good as they want to make readers believe.

Ford & Mazda Re: Stock Essex V6 upgrade advice/guidance

Although dated the Essex were on par with power and torque of newer engines like the VG30 Nissan Hardbody. The Nissan Skylines produced 105kw and 209nm vs the 102kw and 236nm of the 3.0 Essex. The...

Re: Engines have come a long way!

    Re: 1976 Ford F100 Build

I come a long way with the Ford F series. As you say the 2.8 is way underpowered for an F100. Believe me even a 302 V8.
302`s are nice in light cars and bakkies. I will not go smaller than a 351W or...
