Ja, the front is a bit weird but not that bad.

    Defender Re: Strange steering behaviour

    No. I understand.
I replaced the box because of a collapsed bearing.

I would just have expected the pump to give me an indication, audible maybe, of failure.

    Defender Strange steering behaviour

I recently did my swivel pin housings.
I just replaced seals and new grease, although I striped and cleaned everything.
All bearings where in excellent condition but I did replace the needle...

    Re: Snorkel or not?

If you just fitted that as is, it's a raised air intake.

A snorkel, if sold as a snorkel, is a fully sealed system that allows air to enter the engine without a chance of water entering.

    Most...

    Re: Coolant replacement - help

Most engines have a threaded plug on the side of the engine block, this will enable you to drain it completely.
As the bottom hose is higher than the lowest cooling passage.

    But I don't use it....

If you space it on the sides, just re-enforce/support the floor to prevent sagging.

    Re: Defender 130 Overlander build

    Take a deep breath....

Right, you don't need to weld anything.

    Make your measurements.
Decide what you want to change.
    Get aluminium sheet
    Aluminium angle extrusions
    Rivits
    Maybe plywood.

Can you compare your engine bay with someone else's.

It might show you something that was installed incorrectly.

Re: Struggling to start after head gasket fix

Firstly I don't know what engine you vehicle has, but do yourself a favour and check if the headbolts are torqued and then turned by certain degree:

    For example 35Nm + 30 + 50

Re: [Wanted] TD5 compliant Madman EMS

I think it's about the voltage used, a high enough voltage/amperage "burns" the coil clean.

There was a thread somewhere that describes it and a extra "burn" circuit to add.
    My old unit was very...

OT, sorry, but not much to go wrong on the Tdi and some of the problematic stuff, like lift pump and vacuum pump, can easily be replaced by electric stuff that is much more reliable.

Discovery 1 Re: Oil leak advice needed

For sump compression on the 300Tdi:

    Start engine
Loosen cap, it will bounce around.
    Rev up engine:
    1. If it blows off you have sump compression
    2. If it gets sucked "tight", you don't.
