Re: Electricians: connecting generator to house

Good input Brand2011. Glad you pointed out it is not a big job to convert a 3 ph DB to single pH.
You have a great PV setup. 20kWh+ per day from PV and 10.5kWh from batteries.

Re: Solar Powering my Pool Pump

Actually I would say a 100A controller for 12V. I merely tried to explain why this is a no go application.
Rather use 3x330W panels with a grid tied inverter of 1kw+.High starting current is...

Re: When is a charge regarded as a cycle?

+1 but one can add more cycles at lower DOD.
IF the battery has 100 full charge/discharge cycles and you discharge only to 50% then one can expect 240+ partial cycles.

Re: Solar Powering my Pool Pump

So after 3 years your panels and inverter have paid for themselves and the saving after 3 years could be R750 p.m. This makes perfect sense for me. Can only get this return with a grid tied.

Re: Solar Powering my Pool Pump

The 2x100W panels cannot supply enough power to even provide 25% of the power needed by the pump. Thus your 2x105Ah batteries would be close to 50% or more discharged in an hour. This is if your...

    Re: Buying new batteries

If the Victron can top up the 200Ah between LS events why would it not be able to charge the 100Ah in the same time?

Re: Electricians: connecting generator to house

Just get your favourite sparky out to get a quote. All the circuits are already in the DB. Not a difficult job as long as the supply side has a 60A rating and not say 40A 3 phase. The supplier of...

    Re: Gas geyser technology

Open a hot water tap and a sensor detects the flow. The gas burner fires and the heat exchanger warms the flowing water. Some have a secondary heat exchanger to pre-heat the water, using heat from...

Then what about these with resettable readings. You only have to wire the 6 thin wires and 4 other thin wires to the DB. R290 each.

  11. Re: Delta 1300 power unit recharges to 80% in 45 minutes!

LS for 10 hours a day would be the wrong application of this unit.
  12. Re: Delta 1300 power unit recharges to 80% in 45 minutes!

I think we see all the latest specs for LFP but the 18650 have less cycles. About 700 cycles in laptops a few years ago Sony rate their cells 53% cap left after 300 cycles.

Can you use the old style turn meter in a separate enclosure?
    Can a DIN Rail work?
What price per phase is OK?
  14. Re: MECER - IVR -1200MPPT and 2400MPPT - perhaps not for Lithium

This seems to be the setting for float that Battleborn and Victron indicate. Left column is Battleborn.
  15. Re: MECER - IVR -1200MPPT and 2400MPPT - perhaps not for Lithium

I also thought that one keeps batteries on float until power is used and they bulk charge just to go back to float.
Why would you want them to discharge if float is off?

Perhaps reading post #11 would shed some light on your question. Also read the notes on the picture from the manufacturer. I am sure it is clear it may be cycled to a DOD of 80% but not many times....

Perhaps this video would shed more light on how each charger would sense the SOC and charge accordingly.

  21. Re: Does anyone make a Lithium "starting" battery?

AFAIK a diesel 2L can have up to 300A starting current. Some 1.2L petrol engines are around 100A. I think the low temp problem has been solved with heaters in the battery. Although those with a 3sec...
