    Re: Dec/January trip advise

If you do the Lower Zambezi on the Zambia side there is little need to do Mana Pools just across the river.

But in any case, the Mana to Vic Falls route via Chizarira and Binga could become a...

    Re: Botswana February 2020 trip

It's okay, it is for a good cause.

I will do some cosmetic on my vehicles and a proper cleaning, also battery tests on the trailer.

I guess traffic noise pollution will also reduce so sleeping...

    Re: Botswana February 2020 trip

Thanks Peter, liked the combo of stills and video.
Yup, Feb is hot and this one was a cracker.

    Re: Booking Fees amid Avid-19

What hinders you to re-schedule and organise it at a later date?

Sure, we can debate of logistics and planning as well as availability of holiday time, but that would open a can of worms with a...
  7. Re: Botswana Borders Virtually Closed for Travellers from SA

No info on such an issue.
I guess this is very far down their priority list for the moment.

It's a bit like the "dog-walking" when others are trying to stay alive through the pandemic :D

  9. Re: Botswana Borders Virtually Closed for Travellers from SA

As I understand it, the returning citizens are released in self quarantine, the returning resident permit holders (non-citizens) will go into 14 days quarantine.
    All other travellers return.

  10. Botswana Borders Virtually Closed for Travellers from SA

With immediate effect only citizens and residents are allowed into BW coming through any of the SA - BW borders.

    Re: Botswana travel May 2020

DWNP does not do refund, clearly stated in the small print.
So you are lucky not to lose out when you postpone (wise decision).

    Re: Distance and voltage drop

You can use normal 1.5 sqmm installation wire, better a flexible multicore (2-wire) double insulation cable, for reasons of breaking or damage when handling.

    Re: Distance and voltage drop

At this amperage draw and distance the cable cross section or resistance with respect to voltage drop is largely irrelevant.
It comes into play with higher currents say 10 Amps and above.

Re: Noisy Cooper ST Maxx on Patrol

That's exactly what the Coopers are meant for.
Although I have to admit, I just did about 10'000km on tar to Cape and back then to Zambia, the noise didn't bother me but under sharp braking they...

Re: Lodges remaining open in Botswana

Leshoma Valley is a good hide away, not to much through traffic and pretty isolated. Despite some wildlife activity in proximity.
Don't get stressed - take it easy - rid it out ;D
  17. Re: Border Closures - alternate accommodation

You are talking Namibia - right?
This is confusing as you post in the Botswana section.

    Please clarify !!
  18. Re: Border Closures - alternate accommodation

All commercial borders are still open.
    Ramatlhabama
    Pioneers Gate
    Kopfontein,
    Martins drift
    Ramakwebene (Zim)
    Kazungula (Zam/Zim)
    Charles Hill (Nam)

  19. Re: May 2020 Botswana safari - will it happen?

I have no say on that but I would recommend to suspend minibus taxis and queuing at post offices banks and the like.

In hindsight, the borders into Africa should have been locked down about a...
  20. Re: JHB -> Botswana -> Zambia -> Tanzania -> Rwanda

I came back from Zambia just 2 days ago.
No issues with the virus thus far.
Local people are a bit careless when it comes to precautions, but that is no different to Botswana.
If you plan to do at...

Re: MTN Hello World Data Bundle

My wife loaded ZMW 150.00 of data in Lusaka last week.
Never been able to use any as there was no internet connection provided.

So MTN might or might not work for you.
  22. Re: May 2020 Botswana safari - will it happen?

We can see how fast this moves.
Most warnings here from a week or so ago have been surpassed by events lead by SA declaring the situation a "national disaster" which of course is a mis-nomen.
    The...
  23. Re: May 2020 Botswana safari - will it happen?

Divorce rate as it stands is above 50% worldwide with a higher percentage in so called 1st world countries ;D

I exempt Moslem countries for obvious reasons :o
  24. Re: Pont Drift and Mphoengs Border Crossings - and Pula

    Borders closed as of today.
You have to use main (commercial) border crossings as long as they stay open.
Situation might change on short notice depending on development in the Corona saga.
  25. Re: Which is better crossing into Bots: Stockpoort or Martins drift?

    Back to the original question.

Stockport is closed until further notice, so are all NON-COMMERCIAL borders into Botswana due to Corona.

    So choices are taken.

Re: Startup Solar - Good price??

I think it should read 48V (Volt) not 48W (Watt)

If this is the supplier's advertising, I would be weary, such mistakes lead to conclusion of lack of quality control. (maybe just me thinking)

    Re: New system...neat
