Re: Automatic gearboxes and towing heavy loads

I suppose it depends on the definition of modern, and what the intention of the programming is.

My 2012 (modern??) V6 Hilux with an electronic gearbox is programmed for fuel efficiency (decision...

    Hi Ferty.

Yes I did. I suggest when booking in, you get the dealer to confirm they have stock, and they have the WS ATF fluid. Sometimes they only have the D4D gearbox fluid. That must not go in...

I have the same vehicle. Definitely get the ATF oil and filter changed. I got mine changed @ 160 000km and it was very dark. The gearbox tends to unlock the torque converter a lot, and this...

Definitely a good idea. In normal driving, I can get the ATF temp to above 100 Deg c on my v6

Re: Hilux Gd6 Auto Box Again - Fluid Replacement

    Thanks for the post.

For interest, on my Vigo 4.0 V6 with the 5sp 750F gearbox, I did some testing on ATF temperature, and torque converter lock up plays a huge part in temp.

    I did a series...

I would start by checking the drivers door switch.

On auto, the lights are supposed to stay on until the drivers door is opened. If the door switch is faulty, they wont turn off.
