  1. Re: Eskom's new proposal for homes with solar panels

At that price, buy shedloads of batteries, charge them on PV and then push back onto the grid during winter peak time @ over R3/ kwh. Profit! ;););)

    Re: Airband receiver?

You need to have either a restricted or general radio license. You don't need to be a pilot to have the license, but you do need to have the license to be a pilot.

Yup. Under SA law, you're not...
  5. Re: Why would you need to upgrade your alternator if you use a DC to Dc charger?

I don't know of a Victron all in one unit like the CTEK. I have no issue with CTEK as a brand, but I love Victron and decided I was going to invest "in the good stuff" :D

    I don't mind that they...
  6. Re: Why would you need to upgrade your alternator if you use a DC to Dc charger?

It doesn't need to be that bad.

    I have a DIY 128Ah lithium, a Victron 30A DCDC, a Victron 75/10 MPPT and a 100W panel. I spent approx:
    Lithium: R5k
    DCDC: R3k
    MPPT: R1.6k
    PV: R0.8k
    Misc...

Re: The 2.4 Hilux Revo SRX GD-6 Double Cab Thread

I bought a can of MAF cleaner and pulled the MAF. It was clean as a whistle :D

The trick is a thin layer of grease on the air filter gasket when you install it. On the GD6 motor it is known to...

To be fair, a decent sized piece of stainless isn't cheap, but if the table is well made, it's for life.

I know people who've done it.
I know people who think it's a terrible idea.
They are the same people. :)

    Re: Revo/Vigo suspension compatibility

I can confirm that Pro Fender front suspension off a D4D fits a GD-6 perfectly.

Takes about 45 minutes a side to remove the factory strut and fit the replacement.
  12. Re: Hilux 2.4 GD 6 DC 4x4 fuel consumption when towing

    Must be the tyres.

    My 2.8 4x4 AT gets a consistent 10.6l/100km driving 50/50 town/highway, empty. And I drive like a granny.
