  1. Re: Do you have the right? A rant about spineless individuals spreading rumors.

It's certainly one of the reasons I did, fortunately, I am an employee, if I worked for myself, I'd probably starve...

Re: Best Jockey wheel - Pneumatic or not?

Those wheels have plastic hubs and probably bushes instead of bearings, they won't last.
I'd suggest you get wheelbarrow wheels and use them. An added advantage will be the easier rolling ability...

    Re: Weighing a trailer

If he returns the trailer to the same configuration as when it was weighed, and then take it to a scrap dealer he can compare the "official" weight with the other one for a comparison of accuracy as...

    Discovery 2: Re: Electrical connectors

I did see those, but I need the connectors that go onto the various sensors/switches etc and none of them are Molex, unfortunately.

Discovery 2: Re: TD5 Excessive water pressure

When you rebuilt your engine, was the deck skimmed after the liners were replaced?

If so, with a skimmed head, my money will be on a cracked head or liner as a culprit.

Re: Essential Spares for a Caravan

I'd suggest 2 sets of bearings.
A tub of wheel bearing grease.
Q20/Mr Mechenic/Tool in a Can or similar super spray.
Tools to do the jobs of the various spares you are carrying.
    Self amalgamating...

Re: bending a tray the right way

Is the item on feet or is it flat bottomed?
Even if flat bottomed, most of the support/weight will be around the outer edge of the tray unless the item itself starts to sag in the middle due to...

    Discovery 2: Electrical connectors

Who makes/supplies the electrical connectors used in the Discoveries?
I want to tidy up my engine bay harnesses and need new pins and some connectors to do that.

I will be happy with an EU based...
  11. Series II Re: Deregistered series land rover, natis query

I am aware of that, but those scenarios are no use for a serviceable/repairable/unused vehicle that is a long term project.
It is little short of theft that we should have to pay the license fees...
  12. Series II Re: Deregistered series land rover, natis query

This is where the SA licensing system is a total fee collecting con job, IMO.
I have my old Rover P6 platkar that hasn't been on the road for 20 plus years, but I can't avoid paying my Tax for the...

Re: Rear steering of trailer to turn sharper???

It wouldn't necessarily need air brakes, but a chat to the trailer builders will be able to give you a clear picture of the available options for a road going version.

    Re: You had one job

It may be too complicated for the hard of thinking, but it is not "too complicated" to be reliable.
If that were the case, then the D3/4 and subsequent Range Rovers that built on that complication...

    Re: You had one job

Less complicated cars are easier for less comprehending brains to bodge through without getting caught out by a lack of system understanding.

Re: Rim off set compensated by spacer

If you move your holes to in between the existing ones, you might be able to fit the new PCD in
without infringing too much on neighbouring holes.
In other words, rotate the PCD by 36 degrees.
  21. Re: Access to Pressure chamber/barometric chamber

You could also try the places that do hydrostatic testing of cylinders and vessels for ideas.
  22. Re: Access to Pressure chamber/barometric chamber

Courier it to yourself, you will be there before it arrives if you are flying down.
  23. Re: SA designed VTOL plane on the cards. Is it even possible?

Their "model" on the site has 2 conventional gas turbines, which will have to incorporate the drive for the VTOL fans/system in the wings.
The cold propulsion would look to be the lift fans/system. ...
  24. Re: Access to Pressure chamber/barometric chamber

I was going to suggest one of the places that repairs dive watches and dive computers, but I don't think their equipment will go up to that pressure.
  25. Re: SA designed VTOL plane on the cards. Is it even possible?

They are advertising for people to buy shares on their site, but I think they are hoping this is a successful concept at prototype and then have one of the big guns like Lockheed or Dassault buy them...
  26. Re: SA designed VTOL plane on the cards. Is it even possible?

I have also heard about that project. No details are forthcoming on their site.
I know there are some very clued up aerospace guys still in SA, so there's no reason to expect it won't get off the...

Don't be fooled, he knows where most things are in that place.
I was discussing the idea with him and he went straight to the 2 D1 levers he has and pulled them out.

    Re: homemade bending dies.

The characteristics of the pipe may not lend themselves to clean bends and may kink or ripple on the inside radius.
Try filling the pipe with fine sand and plugging the ends before bending again.

    Defender Re: nanocom error codes

That doesn't make sense, if it can't read the ECU then it shouldn't be able to access and erase codes.
