Re: Do 12v LED strips need fuses?

This is the real problem when relying on cable protection alone without going for over current protection and grading fuses based on the load. All power systems are graded wrt current supplied in the...

    Re: Geyserwise vs Geyserworx

Yes I fully agree if one can spend the $ on a Sunsynk. Also my top pick. I just think a lot of members use solar for geyser power saving as testing the water using solar. I could be wrong.

    Re: Alternator failure & signs

Not always the case. Modern alternators use a data cable to control the field winding to provide a output. It would thus be possible to repair the normal items but to test this data module you need...

Re: Speak to me about solar geysers

Actually very easy to switch the DC as was mentioned using the relay coil via the AC thermostat and then the DC from the panels via correctly rated contacts. This should be easy for any sparky with a...

Re: Speak to me about solar geysers

Normally no chance that after using hot water during the evening that water will be hot enough to use no power at 4h to 5h30. Via contactor could work but panels could be idle a big portion of the...

Re: Speak to me about solar geysers

Just look at the reply on the topic GEYSERWISE VS GEYSERWORX and use a Solis 3 or 3.6kw grid tied inverter for using the full power of the sun when the grid is on. Connect panels suited to the watt...

    Re: Geyserwise vs Geyserworx

Great reply and just wonder why we don't see more people going the grid tied route. Even it it means having a 2nd grid tied inverter combined with a back up/true hybrid. They are a no sweat solution.

Re: 12v or24v power supply for weaco fridge?

The hot PSU must just be due to the design. A cheap China switched mode power supply should not run hot at 2A full time use for the 5A version.

It might be a Delco alternator and many other vehicles use them. As said most things inside can be changed. After the regulator it normally is brushes and then bearings around 180th km.

I will put 2 in in the thick leads on your drawing between batteries and inverter.
  16. Re: A simple question - Syapse inverter / charger

As the inverter can draw 13A to output to the load circuit I will for sure put it on it's own MCB. Yes you must have a DC fuse or better a DC MCB between the battery and inverter. If the inverter...

Re: Lesser than R5k hybrid inverter

Although the power is only 360W the micro uses full power pulses. Thus the inverter sees these 2000W pulses. It uses a PWM controller. These pulses could be 1sec @ 2000W followed by 5.55sec off and...

No it can never work from 12V. Different models for 12.24.36. 48V
Just connect a 2nd battery in series and all will be fine.

Re: Do 12v LED strips need fuses?
