    Re: Solar Experts please help

Not an expert but it seems you will need a 2nd controller for the 2nd panel and wire it directly to the battery. Not worth it to have the existing controller to cut out as it will be cutting out all...

Re: 6mm˛ or 10mm˛ for solar extension lead

Based on the great figures supplied by Tiaan earlier even a 2.5 sq mm will work fine at 4.7W power loss vs 1.9W loss with 6 sq mm. 4.7W loss on the 110W of the total the panels provide is no train...

Re: Help with Axpert and Deltec settings

I would use the 20A charge level unless you need to fast charge due to loadshedding. I would also use 23.6V as the DC low setting. These batteries show only 290 cycles if cycled to DOD of 50%. One...

    Re: Adding batteries

Although this battery can be discharged to a DOD of 100% and get only 500 cycles I belief it is much more cost effective to cycle only to 40% and get 1550 cycles.

Thus the OP prefers to get the...

    Re: Axpert wifi box

Great replies but my solution would cost only R120 to know if the power is on or not provided you can have wifi at home and internet to check on your APP if the power is on. It will not notify you...

    Re: 1000W induction cooker

I wish I could help with your problem. I can just mention the Midea brand does not pulse at 2000W but only uses 200W if set at 10%. The watts go up as you increase the power. This is very handy....

    Re: Load Shedding Batteries

I don't think Centurion was loadshed as we had power all day. Certain parts of Wierdapark have a weak network and some equipment keeps on failing. The reason we know is my wife's boss always contacts...

    Re: portable battery box

Yes you have it right. Due to most controllers adjusting for 12 or 24V. It is thus good practice even if the controller does not auto sense the voltage to always do it this way.
  11. Re: Main battery getting fried in Toyota Landcruiser Bakkie

Yes the voltage can go up if the regulator is causing overcharging. Bear in mind a regulator can also undercharge and then the voltage will stay lower than normal.
    Revving higher than 2000revs only...

Re: Average working time for solar

Power generated per day works out at about 901Wh per sq m of solar panel in my case.
  13. Re: Main battery getting fried in Toyota Landcruiser Bakkie

To fry a battery in one day seems to be some kind of fault. As a regulator for the Denso alternator is less than R300 I would go that route if someone cannot actually test to find the problem. I...

Re: Average working time for solar

    Thanks.
Funny that I have never generated 1kW/sq m yet the inverter gives the 5h52m value.

    Average working time for solar

I wonder if someone can shed light on the way Average Working Time from the inverter is seen as 5h52m when in fact it is generating power over a 10 hour period (07h00 to 17h00) as per the graph...
  16. Re: Connecting Different Solar panels in Series or Parallel

Great article. Thanks for sharing. If one looks at the examples one will find by using a MPPT for the flexible 24V panel it could yield about 9A by itself. A PWM would restrict the current to about...

    Re: Battery Behavior

Interesting the device you have to up the volts to 24V for the starter.
The better reading would be to measure the actual volts on the starter during cranking. This should be around 18.5V min for a...

    Re: 12v pressure pump

You could try the Shurflo I think 2190 as a lower pressure 5.5L/min pump. Not sure about the noise but pressure is good. I have seen it at Silver lakes Camp world. Cost about R1300.

    It is also a...

Can you perhaps share what make and Watts of panels you have installed?

    What make inverter?

    Best solar yield yet

After 3 days of lower yield than during winter today was a turn around and my total yield shot up to the best level in 13 months.

How did others find the yield today?
  23. Re: How do the ridgid panels fare on caravans and canapys

The problem that is alerted to is that your panels will be able to supply more current on the battery side than 15A. You will be limiting your charge rate to 15A.
100/20A will be a better option to...

  32. Re: A Victron MPPT 75/15 solar charge controller question.
