    On bare metal or aluminium you need to first prime with etch primer or else that paint will be flaking off well before it's time.

    As far as I understand rubber and petroleum products do not work well together, you need a rubber specific grease product, like red rubber grease.

    Midas etc also sell a tube of Spanjaard silicone...

    Those fault codes and warning lights are typically persistent, you need to clear them with a diagnostics interface and only if they come back do you still have a problem.
