You were concerned about long term costs. R200k more on the V6 after 8 years is hectic.

I think you have your answer. Let us know...

Re: Jimny pinging on Engen 95

Yesterday I took the Jimny on the open road for the first time in a while. Drove up to 5000rpm in certain stints and thereafter the pinging was gone. It might be due to the type of mileage in town...

  7. Re: Ford very finnicky over petrol - 2nd engine replacement imminent.

Could ENGEN unleaded 95 be a problem? I heard that some additives can bring down the octane levels. I am no expert, just conveying a message.

Re: Which diesel is best ?

    Very interesting.

I see you mention that the Polo goes to SASOL. Any reason for that (i know it is petrol - does it mean their petrol is better, or is it just because of convenience?)

Re: Jimny pinging on Engen 95

Correct, the Jimny has a timing chain - so at this moment I am excluding this scenario, but still mindful of this.

    Jimny pinging on Engen 95

Just a random question to you folks. What brand of fuel do you use in the Jimny?

Do others also experience pinging on 95 from Engen? It is driving me nuts, especially when driving most of the...

Ok, I said in my post I did not know the 2.8 was chain, then said/asked that it must be the first chain driven diesel?
