Re: JDM spec Gen3 “KeiCar” Jimny

    Suspension - Des Sol
Tyres - You may want to stick with the stock size - that tiny motor doesn't produce much power.
Roof-rack - No idea. Yours doesn't have any provision for a roof rack. The Gen 3...

Re: New shocks - wheel alignment

Not necessary on the Jimny, but your steering wheel won't be straight if you lift it. Alignment is necessary if you want that corrected.

Re: Who knew a Gypsy has a Check Engine light......

I did that on my SJ. The relay is used to power the solenoid directly from the battery rather than through the ignition.

Wow, how do they stuff that one up? It's really easy to test a starter motor.

Re: Who knew a Gypsy has a Check Engine light......

Starter motors are fairly simple, and you can probably have it fixed for a lot less than that. 1600 seems a little excessive for 2 bolts and a couple of wires.

    Re: Programming of key

I think Suzuki went cheapskate on the central locking system on the Jimny. The Grand Vitara and the old SX4 have that system - one press driver's door, 2 presses all doors. Those two also have unlock...

Re: March Difflock vs Traction Control brekkie Run

It depends on the circumstances. There is an obstacle at Hennops that I was able to do easily with my Jimny with TC that the SJ's with Much bigger tyres and diff-locks could not do. The Diff lock...

    Re: Suzuki Jimny Qustions

The stock tyres are crap. Changing them to a better all terrain in 215/75R15 makes a huge difference. Unless loaded, 1.6 bar all round gives the most comfortable ride on tar.

Re: Irritating key in ignition noise

There is an easy fix for this. There is a plug near the ignition that can be unplugged. I can't find the pics right now. I'll post back here when I find them.

The only thing you can turn off when in low range is "hill hold".
ESP can be turned off in high range, but reactivates over 30kph.

I have had my Jimny since Nov 2018, if the traction control could be turned off, I would know about it. Please give the reference in the manual where it says the traction control can be turned off.

The manual isn't much faster. Yes, it can maintain 120kph on the highway. Top speed is around 150kph.
Even though it is slow, it is still fun to drive.

You won't be disappointed with it's off-road abilities. I've done virtually everything with mine. From doing Koos se klim at Moegatle (when it was totally stock), to Baboons pass and DVR Falls.

Re: Gen3 Jimny Tyre or Suspension?

Yes, there is more clearance on the new one. I had 215/80R15's on mine with no lift, and they fit without rubbing at all.

Re: Gen3 Jimny Tyre or Suspension?

The stock Gen 3 has less clearance under the diffs than the average bakkie, which determines middelmannetjie height. So fitting bigger tyres gives you more advantage than a lift. With my first Gen...
