    Re: Huge land rover dilemma

EPB failures on Disco 3 and maybe 4's, never did research this on the 4. When the EPB failed, you had to get to the wire to release it, and it is an expensive fix as far as I know.

    Re: Selling FL2 for parts

This is news to me. Why would a cracked dash fail roadworthy? This is an honest question.

    Re: Huge land rover dilemma

Even thought they do lose most of their value, they still retain it better than the diesels. I have been eyeing the market for almost a year now, and saw one I was really interested it. The add was...

    Re: Selling FL2 for parts

Jip, when my rear main was leaking I also saw the quote. Labor being the most expensive, seal actually cheap in comparison. Mine was luckily under cpa, so dealer had to carry cost at that stage.

    Re: Huge land rover dilemma

Mmmm. Well then, let's wait for Peter to clarify what he means then.

For me, I would not trust a Diesel V6 from Land Rover if it in any way shape or form resembles the problematic one.

    Re: Huge land rover dilemma

Well, the way I understand it we won't actually know. As per the other post, if under warranty they WILL NOT DISCLOSE what failure happened. I suppose we will also find out a bit later, when the...

    Re: Huge land rover dilemma

You are not crazy, or we are both crazy.

I also miss a Disco, and we had a D3, which also gave me endless issues. And I was one of the lucky ones that did not have the crank snap, but it might...

Ok, so it seems I will be able to join, unless something happens. I will be bringing my best friend and his 3 year old laatie, it will be the boys first offroading experience ;D

Re: Advice for a first time buyer

Well, the problem here I see is that you are not sure whether you want to go proper 4x4, or just softroader.

You would have to ultimately decide what you want to use it for, and how often you are...

    Re: Freelander 2 Underbody Protection

So, had to go to the shops today, and magically on the way home the fuel gage started working fine. Anyway, I still had a look. Bent the bracket sorta back to shape.
    These are all before pictures...

    Re: Murrum road driving

This is good advice. I once almost rolled the Disco 3 on loose sand traveling to a farm. Thought I knew what I was doing, and since the car is so capable I thought I was invincible. When you get to...

Re: Ford or Merc - what would you do?

Not having owned either of those vehicles, here is what I would do.

Go test drive both, and try to test them for the intended use. See which one you like more. Buy the one that puts a smile on...

I'm thinking of going a similar way, with the goal of one day running the whole house of solar. Capital also being an issue, I would also like to gradually increase capacity. If you don't mind, what...

    Freelander 2 Underbody Protection

    587119

So guys, I joined the July Breaky run, and had quite a bit of fun on that run. Thing is though, ever since my fuel gauge only goes up to half, even when I fill the tank to the brim. I can...

Re: Car Roof Lining - how to fix??

Thanks for all the replies guys. I will have a look at the companies and definitely use one of them, the price also seems a lot cheaper than I thought it would be.

PS, I will not do this DIY. I...

Re: Car Roof Lining - how to fix??

    Reviving old thread.

My Mom's 2003 Audi is also now sagging. I haven't inspected yet, but I have advised her to rather take it to a professional. Does anyone know of a good place in the east rand...

Discovery 3 Re: Disco Fiasco - what would you do?

In good old RSA you have a 6 month Consumer Protection Act, but that is also flawed, and not always a given. As per the OP's original post, he tried the CPA, but failed.

O, to the point quicker, it is your responsibility to fix the car. The car is the bank's until you have paid it off.

Well, firstly seems you are posting from the UK, so not sure if your laws are...

Discovery 3 Re: Disco Fiasco - what would you do?

Again, I doubt this to a degree. That would suggest that when it is built, it as to be sold immediately, otherwise it would break? I don't see the logic in it to be honest. It just doesn't make sense...

    Re: How I broke it:

Lets try this a bit differently, I reread the thread.

    1) In a roll off such an obstacle, is there a chance of serious injury?
    2) Would insurance even pay if you roll it due to a mechanical...
