    Re: Landcruiser 76 SW service (200 000km)

If you have all the tools and knowhow, do it yourself.
Just take it in for a valve gap check and set if you feel the need.
I believe that the belt is only at 150K, so check that it was done and...

The polly bush should not have a bush inside it, and should only be used with the after market pin ( The new shiny one).
The metal bit wraped around the poly bush should,...

The springs came from Mikem in JHB. But definately not fitted by them. A large supplier, who has subsequently gone out of business got a hold of some of Mikem's springs and mixed and...

  9. Re: Drive line vibration, lift and caster angle questions LC 76

Yes in an empty wagon riding high with no load and coasting , you will hear it for sure.
On long trips I carry a fair load, so this helps to muffel the noise and probabaly changes the flange angles...
  10. Re: Drive line vibration, lift and caster angle questions LC 76

Umm, as per the first post, drive line (Prop shaft) has been checked, tested and rebuilt, so unless it's bent and the company doing the work are bull shitting me, then I think this one is done. Its a...
  11. Re: Drive line vibration, lift and caster angle questions LC 76

    Thank you Mike
Do you have any experiance with the plate method of correcting the front casrter. This is where you redrill the front arm hole on the axel and use plates and spacers to strengthen...

  16. Annealing copper washers , lessons not learned.

OK, so dangeling copper washers in the flame of you gas stove and then dunking them, does not do a proper job. Just how hot do they have to be.
Anyway you can see that the job was not done...

    Re: 12HT build

Haven't thought of a price yet, but I ceretainly would considder a swap for a 1HD or a 1HD-FT , as I don't have anything to put the 12-HT into, but my Hz76 would make friends with and 1HD, no...

  20. Re: Dodged a huge bullet on a dual battery solar setup.

Well, there is bugger all else which could have done that, trust me I would have noticed the little clues , like burnt out wireing loom, burnt paint on the battery holder, the exhaust having rerouted...
  21. Re: Dodged a huge bullet on a dual battery solar setup.

No cabels run near this area and nothing is/has melted. The bracket is after market (FR) and painted with rattel can paint and this is relatively unscathed, so I am quite sure that the heat came from...
  22. Re: Dodged a huge bullet on a dual battery solar setup.

The plank was miles away from the exhaust, it definately was the battery, the part under the positive terminal part of the battery. Funny, no visible damage to the battery caseing by the way.
  23. Dodged a huge bullet on a dual battery solar setup.

This is the plywood base that I placed under my second battery in a Hz76 wagon under the hood.
This battery is the same as the starter battery, a Willard (Sabat) low maintenance lead acid, and...

Re: Land Cruiser 4.2 1HZ Double cab speed uphill?

Sorry, but a HZ with an altitude compensator (check for a sputnik shaped thingy on top of the IP) should not smoke a lot, once warm under the conditions mentioned . The flat foot "test" may produce...
