On the 1.3 Jimny at full lock, the power steering pump drains enough power that the engine can stall.

Re: New Jimny as long hauler?

Definitely doesn't struggle at 120kph, but it does use significantly more fuel than driving at 100-110kph.

    Re: Coily Wanted

Consider that you need to get it road worthy. I doubt with wheels extending that far beyond the body that it will pass road worthy.
    As said conversions bring issues.

    Rather go for something like...

    Re: Coily Wanted

I bought the XJ with 200000km on the clock, and had problems with the transmission, electronics, brakes, etc. Everything except the motor itself - I put a 100000km on it and the motor could probably...

    Re: Coily Wanted

Having owned an old Jeep, stay away... as much as I love that motor, and it is bulletproof, maintenance on the rest of the car is horrendously expensive, and expect to pay a fortune in fuel.

    Re: Advice Needed.

I have had this happen a few times when playing off-road. If you stall and roll back while still in a forward gear. Start the engine 5 times. If the light goes away, then no need to worry.

There is an indefinable something about the SJ/Samurais that makes them perform better off road.

  17. Re: Suzuki SJ versus Suzuki (nuwe) Jimny by Sandwani 4x4?

We went out to Sandwani a few weeks ago. With 3 generations of Jimny. Unfortunately, the SJ is quite well modified, so not a fair comparison. There were one or two places that the New Jimny got a...

Re: New Jimny as long hauler?

They are 215/80R15 (5% bigger than stock), yes it's the auto. I only did one tank before upgrading the tyres, so can't really say, but on that tank I did 8.6l/100km.

Re: New Jimny as long hauler?

It is certainly comfortable enough. You may find it a bit heavy on fuel though. I have larger tyres on mine, and over 120kph it chomps fuel. On my commute I do around 9l/100km - 110kph highway and...

    Re: NEW 2018 Suzuki Jimny

    Blonde moment? 3500 rpm on a 1300cc is 3500 rpm on a 1500cc.

But 4000rpm at 120kph means different ratios to 3500rpm at 120kph. The difference in tyre size is too small to make up the difference...

    Re: NEW 2018 Suzuki Jimny

The ratios published by Suzuki are identical to the old one, which can not be true, as the revs in top gear are significantly different.

    Re: NEW 2018 Suzuki Jimny

The Auto is definitely easier to drive off-road. On-road sometimes I wish I had bought the manual.
