    Re: Biltong

Yes, absolutely. I use pre-mix spices, it is what it is. Sprinkle meat liberally and rub. Then sprinkle with brown grape vinegar and rub some more. I leave mine for 2 full days to soak.

  3. Re: Adjustable air helper kits / Air springs advice please.

Yes, we inflate when towing. With no load I try to keep them at 0.6 - 0.8 but usually forget to check. They are not supposed to loose air though and mine does not so I have never found them...
  4. Re: Adjustable air helper kits / Air springs advice please.

Personally, I am wary of the air helpers outside the coils. I have the one's inside the coils in my Fortuner and so far so good. It has been installed 2 years ago and works well for when we tow.
  5. Re: Namibia border closed for leasure travel ??? Help needed

If you enter and exit via TR you don't need a passport stamp and you will not be affected nor will your movement within the park be restricted. Only the customs counter in TR is closed not the gate....

  9. Re: first confirmed corona cases, travel ban in effect.

Correct. As long as you don't exit into Botswana from Mabua, but go back to TR, you don't need to do border formalities. You can enter at TR, camp all over, including Mabua, and exit at TR without...

Re: Border posts open or closed?

Sorry Roelf, but I don't agree with you. As Lin29 said is correct. There is no SA customs and passport control at Mata-Mata, only Namibian. All passport stamping and customs has to be done at TR...

    Day visit to Kolmanskop.

But first, I must say that the scenery between Klein Aus and Luderitz beats the much hailed D707 hands down. Obviously personal preference plays a role, but my eyes...

Our home for the next 2 nights is Klein Aus Vista. We really liked it here, another very special place. And we did not spend much time in Luderitz at all, so good excuse to go back. Even if we had...

  20. Re: Camp outside of the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park

Pre-booking is possible and probably essential for KTP; only 20 vehicles per day is allowed.
  21. Re: Camp outside of the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park

You are most definitely not allowed to drive along the border from Unions end. You will need to exit via Kaa gate.

As suggested multiple times, the best place to camp outside the park in the...

And all those dealers stamped the service book? Or can they record the service electronically as is done nowadays in SA?

Re: Update on Jabari my Fortuner

Yes, I am also not sure who will pay for the service. It is maybe an important bit of info that Tim can provide for us seeing he will probably have to service before back in SA again.

Re: Update on Jabari my Fortuner

Yes, you can. I have read of people servicing their vehicles mid trip in Maun or Windhoek.

Both diesel and petrol is 10k service intervals.

Re: Update on Jabari my Fortuner

Yes. Logically you plan your trip to be close to a service agent on 10k.

IIRC Stan Weakly had his Land Cruiser serviced in Nairobi during their long travel.
