Not to be a party pooper but here's just something to consider.
I know they're refering more to higher speed vehicles but some still has merit.

As someone with some experience with this, I also feel that 6 hours (12 total) for removal is a bit long.

Re: Terrafirma shocks and springs vs the world

Monroe shocks are OEM plus some OEM coils are still pretty good.

Maybe look for a heavier duty option.

My Defender is on OEM but heavy duty and I'm very happy.

Discovery 2: Re: Build and assembly of 4.6L V8

So na average of 0.14 of an inch is 3.56mm. (over all the the lifters)

    3.56mm÷1.6=2.225mm

    2.225-0.762=1.463mm

    How does that look?

Discovery 2: Re: Build and assembly of 4.6L V8

    1.3 inch is 33mm!

Are you measuring the gap inside the lifter, between the "piston/plunger" and the circlip?

Sorry I forgot about this part:

You MUST find an average shim size, and fix it to EVERY rocker. So, for example, if you find that you have 4 tappets at 70 thou. and 4 at 80 thou. you would put 32...

Discovery 2: Re: Build and assembly of 4.6L V8

    Is your average gap 1.3mm?

    Then 1.3÷1.6=0.8125mm

    That's how I see it.

    And also from the website:

Each one needs checking individually with the cam ideally 108 deg. off its lobe.

Don't take the reading when the lifter is on top of the lobe.

Discovery 2: Re: Build and assembly of 4.6L V8

    From the RPI website:

But beware, the rocker ratio is 1.6 that of the clearance that needs correcting, so a 16 thou. shim will make approx 25 thou. difference.

Re: Where to fit second valve stem for TPMS

Yes. Having two things of same weight opposite to each other will cancel each other out.

Discovery 2: Re: Build and assembly of 4.6L V8

Not sure if you can, the system is self adjusting because of the hydraulic lifters.
What you can check is if it's necessary to shim the rocker shafts.

    Unless I'm missing something.
