    Fortuner Re: 2.4 GD-6 4x4 Auto

I have the app and even booked the service through the app, but no mention of the cost of the service.

    Fortuner Re: 2.4 GD-6 4x4 Auto

I'm booked for the 100k service next week. How bad will it be?

I'm sticking to the dealers to keep my extended warranty.

    Re: Fridge, cover or not?

    Great post.

Also, just to add to the complexity, a wet towel will insulate worse than a dry towel since water has a lower R than air.
    HOWEVER
The wet towel will cool the outside of the fridge...

    Re: Approximate tyre volume?

Willem, it's not about the litres of air that will keep you floating, but the displacement of water. There's 3300 litres of air in my dive cylinder, but I still sink because the actual cylinder only...

I bought a 2017 GD6 D/C A/T 4x4 with 90 on the clock for 400k. Would love to know what the dealer paid on the trade...

Dive!!! If you haven't done a course before, you'll have enough time to do one!

Re: Hilux Trade and Retail values

I was in the market for a D4D D/C 4x4 for a while. Ended up buying a 2.8 D/C 4x4. Small price more for a much newer car with lower mileage.

It says something though, the D4D has such a great...

Re: 2nd Deep Cycle 105 ah Battery in Trailer?

Presumably each battery is seeing a lower C discharge which means they can deliver more Ah to the load?

Re: Hilux Gd6 Auto Box Again - Fluid Replacement

Any comment on the cost of the ATF? (I've been burned on that one before! :o)

My 100k service is coming up and I'm making a list for the dealer to take care of.

    Re: Approximate tyre volume?

100%. I'm very aware. I dive at least once a week & am a DM too. I've seen the damage a cylinder can cause.

Nevertheless, I have a cylinder in the bakkie at least on the day of every dive and I've...

    Re: Approximate tyre volume?

OK, I think I did the maths:
Wheel diameter is 77.6 so r=38.8
    h=26.5
    so vTotal = pi*r(sq)*h = 125.3l
Rim diameter is 43.2 so r=21.6
    h=19
    so vRim = 27.8l

    So vTotal - vRim = 97.5l

    Approximate tyre volume?

Who of you math fundis can tell me the approximate volume of air in a 4x4 tyre at 2.5bar? 265/65/17?

I haven't bothered with a compressor (yet), but I often have a scuba cylinder in my vehicle &...

Re: Hilux Gd6 Issues to be aware of all owners

Re: Solenoid versus DC-DC dual battery system.

Good to know, thanks. Perhaps I'll be going from "always have cold beers in the back" to "plan a few hours in advance if I want cold beers in the back". Sounds like I'll leave the fridge off unless I...

Good to know, thanks. I already have 10m each of black and red 16mm2 cable. I'll take the advice and move the DCDC to the back. Thanks to the number of you who suggested it.

Re: Solenoid versus DC-DC dual battery system.

Thanks. I drive at least an hour a day every workday. Weekends probably less. Good thing I'm handy with a soldering iron and can build a low voltage cutout for the fridge. If the beers aren't cold,...

    Dual battery wiring

Ideally I'd like to run out today and grab some 10mm2 cable and some split conduit for the dual battery install.

Any recommendations for suppliers in the Durban area? I'm a bit short...

    Re: Extended guarantee or not

I extended by 3 years last month. Kicking myself now, I should have done 5 years, but that's easier to say after the SARS refund, wasn't easy to say at the time.

    Definitely worth it.

    Also,...

    Revo loadbin "access panel"

What's the deal with these little access panels in the loadbin? Mine are covered in rubberising like shown in this pic.

Are they removable? Looks like they have screws, but I can't quite tell....

Re: Securing cargo slide to loadbed

Just beware of what you do here. If you were to crank on a ratchet strap or tie a heavy load to these mounted on the sides of your bin, you'll easily buckle the bin.
