Wow, what a story. I am so glad to hear you made a full recovery and that you are still walking in Mana.

Re: Zim park-fees for SADC citizens?

And don't forget the 5 USD per bundle of wood and the 15 USD per day if you want a walking permit!
  3. Re: Mana-Nyamepi Camp: getting the campsite you reserved?

    Hello Bazil,

Sorry, when I wrote out of order, I only meant that it doesn't come after #20, but it comes after #27 and SB1. It is a fine site, looked very nice.

As we traveled the other way...

Re: Binga to kariba via the powerline route

Here is a link to a couple photos and videos I took of the Binga Road. Really it is not bad at all if you take it slow:

    Re: Hwange shopping

The "OK" supermarket in Hwange was really nice, the nicest we saw in Zim. They had pretty much everything, very well stocked. A guy was even polishing the wine bottles!

    Re: Hwange advice please

We just recently came back from Mana and Hwange and driving now in Zim is a breeze, don't compare to a year ago. We also had planned our return through Panda from Sinamatella to avoid driving in Zim...

    Re: Never again Zimbabwe

We just came back from Mana and Hwange. In total, we had 12 roadbloacks and the first 11 we were waved through. At the 12th one, in Plumtree, we were stopped and asked for the TIP and driver's...

    Re: Camping in Kariba Town

We just stayed at Warthogs in one of their tents for only 15 USD a night. Its $5 per person for the camping. We really liked it, great people, good food, hot showers. For shopping, there is a good...
  9. Re: Mana-Nyamepi Camp: getting the campsite you reserved?

    Hi Leon,

I took mostly USD, a few ZAR for backup and had a few leftover Pula for passing through Bots. Almost everywhere took cards for diesel, stores, Mana Camp, even the toll gates so next time...
  10. Re: Mana-Nyamepi Camp: getting the campsite you reserved?

    Hi Leon,

We went JNB to Francistown via Stockpoort, slept at Woodlands (love it). Then through Plumtree and stayed the second night at Chinhoyi Caves Motel (not great). Then onto Mana.

    Leaving...

    Re: Declaring electronics?

To answer my own question, we went through Stockpoort and didn't declare anything. However, when we crossed into Zim at Plumtree, they had us declare everything on the TIP form at the bottom where...
  12. Re: Mana-Nyamepi Camp: getting the campsite you reserved?

Yes I think the numbers correspond to the sign I posted. 25 is separate from 27 which is next to it, then SB1 and finally 21 (out of order) and "C".

Re: Binga to kariba via the powerline route

    Hi Allistar,

Yes will post photos and video later this week. Masumu Lodge was really nice. Great views from the chalets but these were over our budget so we camped. The camping area is nice and...
  14. Re: Mana-Nyamepi Camp: getting the campsite you reserved?

    Hi Leon,

Yes just got back last night. See below for the link to the camp map. I took videos of all the camp sites but I will need a bit of time to go through those and upload as I have a busy...

    Re: Hwange in Sep/Oct

Just got back from 4 nights at Sinamatella and I concur with kimbaleee above. The only thing Sinamatella has going for it is the view. Very run down, water is a big problem, either too cold, too hot...

Re: Binga to kariba via the powerline route

We just did Kariba to Binga last week. We attempted the Powerline road but we did not get too far and had to turn back and go via Karoi. At the (empty) river crossing just a little ways from Kariba...

    Powerline Road: Kariba to Binga

    Hello,

I am trying to understand the route to go from Kariba to Binga via the Powerline road. It sound like we can do this to bypass going back to Makuti. I thought someone posted a map here...
  20. Re: Accommodation between Plumtree and Mana Pools

Good question that I haven't gotten to yet, didn't really know there was a choice? I was looking at taking the A5, turning off at Chegutu (is this the gravel?) What are you doing? Anyone have any...

Using RAND and cards in Zim

We leave for Zim in 2 days from Joburg and we are having trouble getting USD from the bank and now I am not sure we can get it before we leave. How readily acceptable will Rand be and how easy is it...
  23. Re: Accommodation between Plumtree and Mana Pools

  24. Re: Vehicle Stolen and Recovered, supposed to go to Zim in less than 2 weeks

Thanks, I have read so much conflicting info about this. I guess we will see when we get there, not much we can do now unfortunately.
  25. Re: Vehicle Stolen and Recovered, supposed to go to Zim in less than 2 weeks

Thanks for the name of that, we haven't gotten to this yet but they said we need to go to the licensing department to do it. What we need is to get the status of "Stolen" removed from the car.

  26. Re: Zimparks: do they give credits for late cancelations?

Thanks Rob, I don't expect them to refund the cash, but if they would allow me a credit for next year some time it would be terrific.
  27. Zimparks: do they give credits for late cancelations?

Does anyone know if Zimparks will give a credit for your payment if you cancel last minute? Their cancelation policy on their website doesn't really say, just that after 14 days prior, no refund or...

Does anyone know if there are currently any restrictions on eggs or chicken please coming through Martins Drift and going north to Plumtree? Thanks.
  29. Re: Vehicle Stolen and Recovered, supposed to go to Zim in less than 2 weeks

Thanks, that is another thing I thought of... Postponing is an option, though I think we are going to lose the 1000+ USD I have already paid Zimparks due to the late timing, but I will have to...
  30. Re: Vehicle Stolen and Recovered, supposed to go to Zim in less than 2 weeks

Thanks for the input. We didn't get asked for it last year going to Vic Falls and I wasn't going to get one until this happened now. I was thinking we will be flagged trying to leave ZA. We would be...
  31. Vehicle Stolen and Recovered, supposed to go to Zim in less than 2 weeks

My Hilux was stolen and then recovered on Saturday and we are supposed to leave for Zim on June 22. The damage hasn't been assessed yet, but it doesn't look too bad though they ripped the dash out...

  34. Re: Mana-Nyamepi Camp: getting the campsite you reserved?

Thank you FransBR, that is good news. We are on #11 (riverfront) which I think is next to #9. Did you happen to notice if it is good as well? Thanks!
  35. Re: Mana-Nyamepi Camp: getting the campsite you reserved?

Sure, I will take photos of the sign and the camp.
